Greenleaf, prey is once more plentiful. The forests and Moors are filled with tasty nibbles of prey while the river is almost choked with fish. |

| Okay so i've noticed that theres been a few people back-seat moderating. Its just kinda getting annoying. I'm not sure if the people are mods on other sites and forgetting that they are not here or if they actually are mods? Anyway my suggestion is that could people use the report button instead of actually pretending to moderator. An idea is if you could to make it more noticable? | |

| I don't think that back-seat moderators are actually trying to be like that. They probably just want to try to help, but they forget that Mods do things such as that. But i think that the report button is a good idea, although it might get a bit annoying having a bunch of back seat modding things mixed in with the more important things. | |

| I think its mostly because there are no moderators at this moment, and so people want to help as all five (Is it 5?) leaders cannot be on 24/7. Its understanding to count it as annoying, but there's also a hint of people trying to help the site while our leaders are in the midst of choosing the new mods.
But I have a feeling that backseat modding would turn out less and less as soon as the new mods are chosen.
(Did that even make sense? lol) | |

| It is 5 leaders now. And I've noticed that while Sky and Apache have no powers in the chatbox, they're still in the moderators usergroup. Therefore, assuming that their individual user permissions have not been edited (and maybe they have, I don't know.), Sky and Apache still have moderator powers on the forums.
I feel the backseat moderating is indeed related to Tallfeather's Resignation and Apachewind's Recent Inactiveness, as well as mod apps being open right now, but is also related to the fact that all sites, yes, even wolfquest, have users who will try to usurp the moderators. It's a trait of every single message board on the internet if you look hard enough, and it will never completely go away.
There's also the fact that some may believe we don't prohibit backseat modding. The rules say to respect all WQ rules and guidelines, but there are TFC members who won't/can't find the WQ forums, let alone even know what Wolfquest is. If any of the leaders want to lessen bakseat modding, a link to the WQ rules in the forum rules thread of this site might help lessen the backseat moderating issue. Putting the forum rules thread as a global announcement would also help.
--------------------------
In any case, it doesn't appear to be a huge issue right now, and will likely lessen once the new moderators are chosen. It's not worth worrying over, think about christmas instead. | |

| I have added the report feature for posts which is the ! mark at the top with all the other icons.
I agree that this is a problem, I have seen plenty of back-seat moderating by many users across the board and it can get irritating sometimes. If you do it it's not like it helps you and gives you brownie points for becoming a mod, which maybe is contrary to what those people think. Additionally, I know they want to help out the forum, but to those who do it: There are plenty of other ways to help out. Instead of posting possibly rude responses or answering questions where you don't actually know the answer and end up giving misinformation, it is better to wait for an admin or PM an admin to take care of it instead of posting yourself. Thanks! | |

| My feelings have already been summed up, but I think I'll post anyway. Even if back-seat moderating isn't a huge issue right now, if we just leave it and let people back-seat moderate, it will turn into an even bigger problem. I do think there needs to be some clarification about it, for people who may not be aware of what they're doing and why it's an issue. Otherwise, like I said, it'll get even worse.
I agree that it's very annoying to see people back-seat moderating (no offence meant), possibly even more so in my case, being a WolfQuest moderator. On WolfQuest, we do not tolerate back-seat moderating, so it really is annoying to see it mostly being ignored here. | |
