PostSubject: Last of Us   Mon Dec 17, 2012 7:41 pm

Based on Left 4 Dead, The Walking Dead, and the up and coming video game Last of Us as well as some elements from Fallout. If you're younger than 13 or cannot handle mature themes (as in violence/gore/etc) I suggest you do not participate in this role-play!

Almost no one is left. The world is crumbling beneath our feet. We are wasting away without known cause, degrading mentally until the only thoughts in our head are for human flesh. Everyone is infected. There is no cure. It doesn't matter if you're bitten, once you die you come back as a zombie whether you were infected or not. The only way to stop this is by shooting the dead in the head or otherwise crushing the brain. Supplies are not many these days, and staying in one place too long is dangerous. Camps are consistently attacked and raided by bands of thieves, violent survivors who don't care about anyone but themselves. Some towns have blocked themselves off from outsiders and "discard" the weak and old, though no one is quite sure what happens there. Either way, it's simple: You haven't seen anyone in a long time, and by now you're not sure if you're the only one left. The only weapons you have are ones you've picked up along the way as well as your wits. There's not much left in our run-down, apocalyptic city. We're the last, with no chance of survival.

Zoey sighed and tucked a piece of loose hair behind her ear. . Her blue eyes looked back and forth warily as she creeped along down the deserted city road. Thankfully she wasn't too late and it was still light outside. Once it got dark, then there was reason for worry. But the zombies were attracted by noise and thus she was being quiet as a mouse.

Staking out the street a few hours before, she noticed the abandoned road and that it did not seem to have many zombies milling about. Figuring she might as well look to scavenge something, she snuck into the doorway where the frame was broken and battered, though still somehow intact. No one was here, it was completely silent- eerie, even. A ray of sunlight filtered through a crack in the door. The windows had been boarded up and so almost no light shone through. Reaching backwards into her backpack, she pulled out her flashlight and shined it into the building. To her disappointment, it was picked clean. The place was spotless except for the trash and glass scattered across the room. Clearly there had been a struggle.

Then she spied something in the corner of the room. A safe of some kind- well- a cupboard with a lock on it. Curious, curious indeed. It did not appear broken. Pulling a bobby-pin from her hair she opened it with her teeth before approaching it. Kneeling down, she inserted the bobby pin into the lock and leaned forward. Not soon after she heard a satisfying click and the lock fell off. Zoey caught it and put it into her backpack for possible future use before opening the cupboard. Inside, to her amazement, was just the thing she needed. A handgun. It looked pristine and she reached forward, picking it up from the dusty shelf. Inspecting it, she saw it was loaded. Why hadn't someone at least tried to open the lock? It was so easy to do..

She grabbed the rest of the contents of the cupboard- some bullets, a couple cans of food, and some batteries- before quickly closing it and standing back up, stretching some. The search left her satisfied. Putting her gun in her pocket, she turned to face the entrance and see if she could find anything more of use.

Rin quickly walked through the open, yet abandoned street. She didn't like being out in the open, it wasn't safe, even during the day. The zombies didn't exactly enjoy going out during daylight, but if they heard a meal, they would do it. But, even the limited safety that the sun granted her would be over soon. The sun was setting, and she had to find some sort of shelter before they all came out.

She froze as a glint caught her eye. Something shiny in this place, really? She didn't think that was even possible. Walking toward the item, she grinned when she saw what it was. A katana, and one in good shape at that. What better weapon could there be? Well, a gun would've been better to fight zombies, but katanas were cooler. She picked up the weapon and continued on her way. Cool sword or no cool sword, there still wasn't any suitable shelter for her.

Happening upon an un-boarded house - a rarity, it seemed - Rin carefully crept toward the abandoned dwelling. It'd be decent shelter, but there could be zombies hiding in it too. That wouldn't be good. She stood to the side of the door, listening in. She could hear.. something inside the house. Zombie..? or perhaps, a survivor? She thought about it for a second before deciding that she didn't have time to think. Thinking was boring, anyway.

"Is someone in there?" she asked, hoping that if the person inside the house was a survivor and not a zombie. She gripped her katana with both hands, though, just in case it was a zombie. She didn't really have experience with the weapon - she assumed that watching people use katanas in movies and anime didn't count - but it was better than nothing. The blade definitely looked sharp, and zombie flesh wasn't exactly the toughest thing in the world in her experience.

Zoey froze as she heard the sound of feet coming from outside. She didn't recognize it as the gait of a zombie, they shuffled and moaned. This walk was confident and you could hear each step loudly as whoevers foot it was touched the pavement. Zoey held her breath and waited, hoping with all of her might that whoever was walking would just pass by. How could it be some other person? This had to be a trick! There was no way, she had seen no one since the apocalypse began. By the time she had gotten to this city it was completely abandoned except for the undead, but Zoey never did count them.

But the footfalls stopped right before the door of the shop. Zoey cursed under her breath and grabbed the gun from her pocket, pointing it at the door. Whoever it was better be careful, these days she wasn't afraid to shoot. The person outside called out, asking if someone was there, and the voice was clearly female. Zoey ignored the call and did not speak. She stepped forward slightly, the wooden floor of the building creaking underneath her weight. Stopping suddenly at the sound, she closed her eyes for a moment to compose before reopening them.

Rin tensed when she didn't receive any kind of answer. Humans had a tendency to answer when asked a question, apocalypse or not. Zombies didn't answer. Zombies jump out and try to eat you. But then, if this person was a zombie, wouldn't they have tried to kill her by now? She inhaled sharply at the sound of wood creaking. It was faint, but still sort-of audible. She closed her eyes for a brief moment to calm her nerves down a bit, then opened them again.

"You know, if you're human, it's probably best if you answer your own kind," she said, annoyance clearly marking her words. "If you're a zombie, though.. I have a katana," she added, grinning for some reason. Most people didn't enjoy threatening zombies with katanas, but there was just something in that threat that amused Rin.

Nico entered the museum slowly. The whole zombie thing was freaking him out. "Okay Nico," he muttered. "Just go in, find a weapon and get out." His blue converse squeaked on the polished floor. "Oh great. These shoes are gonna blow my cover." He turned around a corner untill he reached the greek mythology room. Maybe there was something here? He walked over to an exhibit about Hades and saw a sword. Written in a note next to it said : This sword is believed to belong to Lord Hades himself. Nico snorted and grabbed the sword. I got some killing to do. He thought.

He walked down the streets untill he reached a house. He heard... talking? He opened the creaky door and entered cautiously. He went in a room and tiptoed behind a person. It was a girl? He relised that it was no zombie. Thinking of the best idea he poked the girls back with his swords handle. "Boo." He whispered. Then he stood back and twirled his sword. "Nico Austin, at your service." While twirling and saying that at the same time he dropped his sword.

(dunno how nico got behind her but i'll go with it o:)

Zoey waited nervously, biting her lip as the silence continued. She could still hear the person's breathing outside very faintly, and the person did not leave. The female spoke again and obviously wanted her to reply, Zoey also caught a thinly veiled threat beneath her words. Gripping her gun more tightly she opened her mouth slightly as if to reply, when she felt someone tap her back. Whipping around with wide eyes she blindly shot, taken aback by the intrusion when her back was basically against the wall. A boy with a sword stood there, twirling it about in his fingertips before dropping it to the ground with a clatter. Zoey realized her mistake and said nothing to the boy, moving slowly away from him and lowering her gun with shaking hands. She spun about, as if on an axis, and ran as fast as she could to the back of the store. Finding a back door, she pulled it open and blinked furiously, blinded by the sun. Disoriented she looked about before sprinting down the street the opposite way she had come. It was as if she could hear the zombies mumbling as they made their way down the street towards the source of the shot...

Why had that boy been so stupid? How had he gotten in there without her noticing in the first place? You don't just tap someone during a zombie apocalypse and expect them to not shoot you. Slowing down she turned around and saw the zombies merging on the store. Leaning against a nearby building she panted for a bit, watching. Zoey knew that if the kid died it was her fault, and she regretted just leaving the first human she saw there alone. He had a sword though, where were all these survivors getting swords from anyway? Her blue eyes watched the undead carefully before turning about and jogging quickly. Scavenging here for so long had made a mental map of the place in her mind. She recognized her location quickly and quietly made her way through the streets, bypassing the dead. Finally she reached her hideout and as she walked across the threshold into the church she realized the irony of it all.

Rin blinked as a boy just walked right past her without even acknowledging her existence and into the store. How..? And, why? As far as Rin knew, she wasn't invisible. Her eyes widened when she heard a shot. Did the person in the store shoot the boy? He must have made some sort of mistake.. she wondered what he did. It might not have been much, considering survivors in a zombie apocalypse would probably be more than a bit jumpy. She took a step back as a woman ran out of the store.. no doubt the one who took the shot.

As she started to step into the store, a young girl who couldn't be older than 11 years old came out of nowhere and went inside. What was with the sudden influx of survivors? She had only seen one other person since she ran from her home, and they were killed only moments later. There was no time for such thoughts, though, as zombies were starting to emerge.

Rin opened the door and stepped inside after the girl, and looked around. It was fairly empty, other than the boy who had been shot at, and the child. "Okay. Look, I don't know who you two are, but I suggest you prepare yourselves if you don't want to die some kind of horrible, gruesome death. That shot alerted the zombies, and they're coming," she said.

The sound of another voice startled Amber. She turned around in fright. "Who are you!?" She asked, aiming her AK at the older female with shaking hands. "I know the zombies are coming, thats why my AK47 is loaded." She says with fright in her voice.

Zombies come through the door. Amber re-aims her gun and shoots the two zombies in the head. The shot re-kills them. "How was that was that that for a young shoot?" She says, trying to not make it sound like she was actually asking a question. She was obviously shaken even more with those zombies coming in.

Personality: Luke is a strong and arrogant male, commonly getting annoyed with the weaker beings. He loves killing for some reason and can find small and prickly reasons to shoot.

History: Born to a mother in a mental institution, Luke was raised to do all the wrong things. His father was an apocalyptic 'survivalist' and saved up food and such for December 21st 2012. When the zombie raids started, Luke took all he could fit, grabbing a weapon, small amounts of food and a few water bottles. His father soon went insane and so Luke shot him in the head and headed out.

Rin raised an eyebrow. "You can't be that surprised to see me, considering you walked right past me to get in here. Clearly I'm not invisible," she said. "Also, who are you to ask me who I am? You haven't introduced yourself either," she added, rolling her eyes. Kid had some nerve. Though, to be fair, she was so young, she was probably scared out of her mind. Fear does things to people.

"Don't get too full of yourself," Rin warned after the girl shot the two zombies who had tried to get through the door. Poor girl looked shaken, though. Rin stepped toward the door a bit and stood to the side of it, katana still in her hands. "Chill. If any try to come through, I'll slice them," she said with a grin.

"I-I-I'm sorry, I'm Amber." She says. "The apocalypse must have gotten to me." She sighs. It must of gotten to me. She thinks. She stares at the door where the zombies came from. Then, she stares at the dead zombies.

"So, who are you?" Amber asked, not as scared as before. She makes sure her gun is fully loaded, then aims it again, just waiting for zombies to come pounding through the door. She nods and is as quiet as possible.

Jay peered around the abandoned hotel. Glancing around, he spotted the creaky old door practicly hanging off it's hinges, and the silver lock lying on the shaggy, blood-stained carpet. Wasn't much to picking it, he thought, his amber eyes hard as he slid the long dagger out of its sheath. "Let's see here..." he muttered to himself. "Torn furniture, crumbling center fountain, peeling walls..." he mummered under his breath. "Nothing of use here," He barely got the words out of his mouth when a gun shot sounded from not to far off. "That idiot!" he hissed under his breath. "Now all the zombies will be looking for a meal. He picked up the pace, his gold buckled boots clinking on the tile as he stepped onto the broken hard floor of the stairs. Clink, clink, clink. He stopped in front of a fairly large door. A suit, he presumed. Glancing around to make sure no one, or nothing, was watching, he jammed the tip of the dagger into the lock, as one seemed to be on every door in this town. Jerking it to the right-hard-he heard a click, watching as the chunk of metal dropped uselessly to the ground. Kicking open the door, he stared the dark, errie hall way that loomed in front of him.

Grasping the hilt of the long knife firmly, he began walking down it. Clink, clink, clink. He stopped as he glanced around the room infront of him, and began searching through boxes, under furniture, and even in holes in the walls. Opening the fridge, not working, surprise surprise, he spotted a line of canned and jarred food lining the shelves of the box. Who would leave such precious things here? he thought, but quickly dismissing it as he began stuffing the food anywhere he could. His boots, pockets, pants and shirt, even taking off his cloak and tying up bundles of them. Hoisting the tied piece of cloth over his shoulder, he began to explore the other rooms. Books, furniture, money and jewelry, all things that were worthless now. As he turned to exit the bedroom, he spotted a pool of blood, trailing from the other side of the bed. Curiosity winning over caution, he walked swiftly around the bed. Clink, clink, clink. He stopped dead in his tacks, staring down with an expressionless face at the floor.

A head, severed from it's body, which was lying, mangled, a little ways off. Staring down as the bloody mass of flesh he peered down through a hole it's forehead, which was large enough for a hand to fit through, and found that there was no brain. Zombies! he thought, turning to make a dash for the door, but was intercepted by a figure that was standing over him, moaning.... Glancing up slowly, he saw the rotting, bloody flesh of a zombie, it's mouth and hands dripping in blood. Screaming, he swung his arm around, which was still holding the hilt of his dagger, and slashed a deep hole in it's chest. Blood spattering his clothes and face, he jumped up, jamming the dagger through the undead's head. Reaching for him, groaning in anger, the zombie grabbed his other arm, holding it tight. Screeching in terror, Jay hacked at the zombies hand, feeling him slice through the rotting flesh. Dashing out of the room, down the stairs, and through the lobby, he emerged from the hotel.

Glancing around, not even thinking, he dashed towards where he thought the sound of the gun was fired. Not stopping, he barged through the door of an unlocked house, slamming the door shut behind him, and leaning against it. Heart pounding, he glanced around the room, startled to figures standing around. Exhauseted, he sat down, sure that he was going to die here. Looking down at his bloody clothes, he was disgusted to find the hand of the zombie still hooked to his shirt. Stabbing it with his dagger and flinging it off in a corner, he turned back to the figures, preparing to die.

Amber looked at the boy, and aimed her gun. I did not know there was THIS Many survivors! She walks closer. She watches him flick a zombie hand in the corner. "Is that zombie blood?" She asks, remembering to ask him his name.

"I'm Amber, and who may you be?" She asks. Her gun still aimed, knowing she may not be able to trust him. She knew since he had a sword, she could beat him if he decided to fight, and she wasn't afraid.

Luke's eyes wavered from side to side, his footsteps light and stealthy as he could go. He wanted to be cautious of everything around him, his brawn had not been enough in some cases and he had to resort to pure strategy. He held is AK-47 in his rough hands as he peered around. He came across a small cabin in the middle of a crumbling ruin of what use to be a city. He felt like the lone survivor of this hagsmire, it was life or death, he was the only one who needed food and the zombies knew that. He wondered, he peered inside the only somewhat stable building left.

He found little to nothing of use, mainly old wooden chairs and things that were useless to him. One thing he'd grabbed before he killed his father was a backpack with a few supplies in it, those supplies, they were running low. He needed to find more fast and soon if he was to survive and he would never give up. It wasn't in his blood, his mother hadn't given up in her mental institute. She died trying to escape. His father had never given up. Luke was sure that his father would still be around today if Luke hadn't shot him first. His 'tiger-striped' arm of cuts hurt badly, he must have gotten something in one of the cuts that had ripped open on scabs a few days earlier. He wasn't and he felt prepared for the worst.

(Using Guardian's of Ga'Hoole terms because he's a bit off)

Jay watched as Amber moved closer, the gun still pointed at him. "Yea, it's zombie blood," he said. "And....call me Wisp," he said, prefering that name instead of his own. It was what his best friend called him, after all. When he was alive, however. He glanced down at the blood-stained dagger in his hand, memories crashing over him like a wave.

"Come on! Don't you wanna watch the eclipse?" Linko asked, tugging on his arm. "I hear it's gonna be awesome!" The year was 2012, 21st day of December, the day the Myans thought that the world would possibly end, as it was going to pass through a dark rift for the first time ever. There happened to be an eclipse that day, and everyone in Cragton was going to watch it. Tugging on his arm, Linko dragged him out into the yard, the bright sun warming his skin. "Look! It's starting!" he whispered, pointing up at the sky. The moon was passing over the sun, and it was magnificent. The world was cast into darkness, although it was only temporary. At least that was what everyone thought. It continued to stay dark. "What's happening!?" he heard someone cry. Everyone was to scared to move. Just then, a blue lightning bolt, so bright it looked like the sun had made a tear fall, struck the ground. The Earth shook, electric waves pulsing through the ground, the world turning blue with the errie light. When the terror that only lasted for a couple of seconds was over, everyone peered back up at the sky. The sun was visable again. There was a peaceful quiet as people were prossessing what had just happened, but the peace was soon shattered. Shrieks of terror and agony filled the air. The towns folk stampeded down the streets, screaming. Just then, he heard a howl of pain sound from behind him. Eyes widening in horror, he saw that a bloody, fleshy figure was gripping Linko, it's yellow, crooked teeth sunken deep into his neck. Fleeing in terror, Jay barged into the house. "Help! Save me Wisp!" He heard Linko's agonised pleas fill the air. Running to the cupboard, he swung the door open, grabbing the largest knife he would find, and rushed back outside. He sliced the knife down the zombie's back, then stabbed it's neck. Just as it was turning around, he swung the dagger. Blood spattered the ground as the head of the zombie thumped against the earth. He glanced over at Linko, or what was left of him, as his head and chest were mangled and caked with blood. Staring in horror, he saw the half eaten blob of pink mush lying beside his best friend's lifeless body. His brain.

(If no one is fine on how this might have been the start of the apocalypse, just tell me and I'll gladly delete this part ^-^)

Jay snapped back, realizing he was sweating, his hand gripped so tightly around the hilt of the dagger his knuckles were white. Focusing on Amber, who was still pointing the gun at him, he stood up, dropping the dagger into it's sheath buckled to his side. "I'm no threat. So you can lower that thing before it drives a lead sandwich into my head,"

"Name's Rin," she said in reply to Amber's question. Then, yet another person entered the shop. Another male, who, considering from his rush inside, was being chased by zombies. She sighed. Another person. This shop was starting to get cramped.. she might have to leave and make a run for it soon. At least the new guy closed the door, though. The door had previously been broken a bit, but it was better than nothing. A zombie still stuck its hand through one of the gaps, though. Rin quickly chopped it off, and the hand fell to the ground right outside the door.

She looked back at everyone who had entered the shop. "Honestly. Where are all you people coming from?" she said, sounding slightly annoyed. If more survivors came through the door, she'd definitely make a run for it. Zombies or no zombies, she didn't like being around a bunch of people, and especially not in an enclosed (or in this case, mostly enclosed) space.

(It will be short paragraphs, I'm on my tablet)

Amber nods. Though she is still unsure, she lowers her gun. "Wisp is a nice name." She says. She mkes sure her gun is still loaded.

She is still looking at wisp when a zombie comes through the door. She screams as a zombie comes through the door. She takes a quick aim at the zombie and shoots its head, but is it dead?

Jay glanced over at Rin, who appeared to look as if she were going to make a run for it. "It would be better if we stayed in a group," he said, although he prefered being a "lone wolf". "At least if we form a Clan of survivors or something, we could depend on each other, watch each-others backs and stuff, even though we all just met," he said, still eyeing the others suspisiously. "Looks like we might be trapped in for the night," he mummered, leaning against one of the unstable looking walls. "Any one hungry?" he asked, untying his cloak and letting the contents spill out. "I looted some food from a hotel. Guy was prepared, for sure, although the zombies got him first," he said, examining a can of soup. "Help yourselves, i guess," he said, stabbing the can with his dagger. "Although you're gonna have to ration it," he said, slipping the dagger out and holding the can up to his mouth, letting the liquid run into his mouth. He watched as a zombie charged through the door, Amber shooting it in the head. "Nice reflexes," he said, quick as a flash slipping the dagger out of it's sheath and hurling it at the zombie. Blood spattered the ground as it contacted with it's neck, slicing it clean off as it stuck in the old wall. "Like I said, stuck for the night,"

Rin blinked. A "clan" of survivors? No. Just no. She didn't want that. Probably because it didn't make sense to her. "You may be right, but I think that the fewer people, the better. Attracts fewer zombies, you see," she said, stepping closer to the door. "Which is why," she opened the door, "even though I know you want me and my mad skills here," she swung her katana at the zombies who had gathered by the door, chopping off various body parts, "I'll be off." And with that, she stepped outside, closed the door, and ran off. Stuck for the night? Hah! They can have fun with that. Rin wanted no part of it.

She ran across the street, where there were definitely fewer zombies. She didn't stop, though. She just kept running. Eventually she'd find a hiding spot, right? There had to be some other place in this city to hide from the undead creatures. Finally, she came upon a church. Rin wasn't a religious person in any sense of the way, but you take what you can get in situations like hers. She quickly entered the building, closing the doors behind her and leaning against them, panting.

Jay shrugged, wiping off the drips of soup from his chin with his sleeve. "Have fun being eaten alive then," he called after Rin as she dashed off. Quickly taking an old wooden table, he flipped over. Dragging it across the room, he propped it against the door. "Unless you've got super strength, i dont think anyone's getting through that," he muttered. Stepping over the zombie head, he walked over to the wall where his dagger was stuck. Gripping the handle, he gave a yank, sending splinters of wood flying through the air. Stuffing the blade back in it's sheathe, he stepped back over to where his can of soup lay, his boots splashing through puddles of blood on the floor. Sipping the last of the contents out of the hole, he watched to see what would happen next. Or who would be brave- even stupid enough- to leave at this hour.
