Downtown suburbs

Subject: Downtown suburbs Sun Mar 17, 2013 1:13 pm

The lower class area of hartford. The houses here are crammed in and shabby. There are no purebred dogs in this area, and every scrap of food is accounted for. These people don't own the mansions and work hard for everything they can get.

Raj padded slowly into the Suburbs, he watched the dirty streets and the people. for some reason these people seemed different to him. There were tempting pieces of food, but the large male did not reach to grab them. Never had he taken food from these people. Why? Only he could answer. the large dog would move out of the way and would watch the oblivious children play. His paws carried him slowly as people passed by without so much as a glance to him.

A suspicious truck appeared around the corner, and Raj's ears perked up. He growled to himself and quickly turned tail. He padded faster and faster dodging in between people's legs. His paws began to carry him over the wet roads as he headed down an alley and turned a sharp corner. His nose sniffed around as he made his way to cecil Boulevard.

Blackjack padded around the dirty place, disgusted. He was used to the clean streets with large houses. But it was very different here. He watched the people as they went about their business. He walked along a sidewalk, dodging people's legs as they walked by, and sniffed around for any signs of other dogs.

Tourmaline walked over to where her now packmate was, her eyes glancing around. She noticed a truck come by and Raj pad away. "Hey, I think we should be careful about that... whatever it is." The tan-furred Australian Cattle Dog said as she walked over to the Border Collie, pointing with her tail in the direction of the truck. She sniffed at the air, seeing if she could find any other dogs in the nearby.

Blackjack jumped and looked back to see Tourmaline come up to him. When she spoke, he nodded. "Yes," he said. "That's called a car. And they are dangerous. You don't want to go jumping in front of one of them, that's for sure." He knew about cars because he had lived with twolegs his whole life. He also knew about many other twoleg things. "I haven't caught any sign of any stray dogs yet. What about you?"

Tourmaline nodded, listening to what he'd said. "I think that one, the larger car, might have dogcatchers in it." She said, watching as the strange-looking car had drove away. She looked back at the border collie as he began to talk. "I haven't seen any dogs either. Just a lot of people."

Nightingale trotted up and shoved her way through the crowd, her eyes caught by a hot dog vendor she moved and snaffled up a hot dog before the longpaw had noticed. she flicked her tapered ears and continued along. leaving behind her bloody pawprints as her pads had been ripped up by the tough tarceal. she sat down in the shade of a building and panted.

The tan furred dog glanced up as she saw another dog nearby a food stand of some type. Tourmaline nodded to the Border Collie she was with, still unsure of his name, before walking over to the other dog. "Hi, are you looking for a pack?" Tourmaline said simply, her tone without a lot of emotion. She was aware that their pack leader had said about attacking any rogue dogs, but decided to at least be fair and give the dog time to leave.

The large great dane bared her teeth and snorted "i will never join your feble pack!" she turned scraping dirt at the other dogs. her eyes widened seeing the fateful white dog pound truck. an anger filled her chest and she let out a loud baying bark. the truck stopped yet she stayed there ehr ears back her lips raised. she leapt for the dog catcher only to find his loop around her neck. she grunted as she felt the pole that held the loop slam into her chest.

Tourmaline let out a snarl as the dog bared their teeth and then snorted towards her. What the great dane had done next made her pelt bristle, and her ears flattened back. Seeing the truck again, her eyes blinked for a moment before she watched the other dog jump at the dogcatcher and get captured. She quickly backed up into the building's cover, hoping the dogcatchers wouldn't see her. When the van had left, she sprinted back over to Blackjack. "We're going to the pound, now. That dog just insulted me! And our pack, as well. I'm not going to let that dog get away without it apologizing or something." Her pelt bristled as she let out a growl, looking in the direction of the dogcatcher's truck.

After some time, the dog sighed. She supposed that they didn't need to go to the pound. Nodding at the border collie, she decided it was time to go back to somewhere else. She trotted off, deciding that the other dog would probably come if he wanted or go back to the pack's home.

Sophie snorted at all the scents. She flicked her tail and sat down on a lawn. Feeling the grass on her paws. She flicked her tail. Feeling the slow breeze flow in her fur.

Duke padded around, his gait easy and sure. He was always sure of himself, he didn't fear or feel nervous, no he was confident about himself. It shone in his eyes, it radiated off of him in waves. He was a package of confidence. But he wasn't to be read wrong, the dog was far from being full of himself, he hated the mere thought of thinking himself above another and still he had the strange mentality thatmost of what he did was right. He was complkicated.Duke didn't think about anything except for something good as he walked, passing the lonely and dark streets. His nails clicked softly against the hard floor as his eyes darted around, searching every corner and alley. He felt like something, just something might be out there that would add some fun to this night.

His nose twitched, as the soft breeze washed him over with many scents. Garbage, oil, a port-a-potty, but in the mingle of the rancid scents, there was another. A softer, sweeter more likeable scent. Duke could identify that scent anywhere. A dog, a female dog. To Duke, nothing was sweeter than a female, it didn't matter if she was mean or super nice females were the best things ever. Unlike male dogs, females smelled sweeter, and cleaner. Duke himself, didn't mind much about self cleaning but he knew some females did mind. He stalked over carefully, his paw steps so quiet as if he was hovering over the ground. He stepped up behind the female, a looming shadow.

Sophie noticed a shadow on the ground. She growled and turned. Sophie flashed out a paw,and aimed to hit him in the head. Seeing it was a male,she jumped back,and snorted. "Be happy I didn't hit in the head."

Duke had his paws close to the female, and could feel the slight vibration she sent as she tensed. He was amused for that short second and seeing her tense suddenly, he took two steps back, just out of her paw's reach as she swiped at his head. He raised a brow, as she told him to be happy she had not hit his head. Duke dropped his head only slightly, his own muzzle scarred with the tale of many a fights. "Well you sure are quick for a purty filly, aren't you? Don't worry girly, I have gotten his over the head more than you have seen humans." He stood tall, his cold gaze not once falling or chainging. His eyes stared into hers, searching the depths of her eyes for a simple truth.

The large male tilted his head contemplating the smaller cattle dog, his tail held low. He was probably in her territory and if not, it still wasn't his to be demanding or disrespective. Duke offerred no smile, or hint of kindness, though he did see the female as quite pretty as most other females were as well. But The Old Duke wasn't about to reveal any feelings whether he had them or not, it would weaken him if he so dares to show a single man or dog alive on how he truly felt. It kept him alive in fighting and it kept him alive to the very moment.

Sophie sorted. "Yeah,you've been through a lot." She rolled her eyes. Then heard she was a 'pretty filly'. She bared her teeth. "Don't call me that." It was simple and clear.

The male's look grew bored asshe told him, not to call her a pretty filly which from him was a high compliment, "Fine you..." Duke paused, his temper something he had yet to learn how to manage. He twitched his ears in relief, glad he had not gone on for that would have deserved him a sharp nip to the nose, which he did not particularly like. With a simple curt nod he shrugged, "Fine, girly or whatever your name is... I shall not call you pretty or anything upon your request." The male snorted ever so slightly before turning to the right, "Adios." He turned tail and began to walk down a dark alley. Females... You just can't understand them. Good thing she ain't one of my sisters... Dad would have never... He thought as the white tip of his tail disappeared behind a large row of trash cans.

Sophie noticed him holding back his temper. As he stepped away,she narrowed her eyes. "You treating me like a fae?" Sophie flicked her tail. She rather be treated like others. Not higher than other brutes.

Duke poked his white head out from behind the can. "No, no. There are just things a mn must never say to a lady and much less a gentleman." Duke considered himself a gentleman and attempted to be kind to others, except for males. His mother and father as well as masters, never allowed him to treat a female harshly or unkindly, but he knew one day he would snap and bring fury upon a fae who probably held no fault. He prefferred if such a day were to come, he would rather bring it upon someone who desrves it, he disliked mistreating a female and if he ever saw a mistreated female his blood would boil and he'd go into a blind rage.

Sophie chuckled. "You really debating about that?" She snorted. "Kinda unfair." Sophie flicked her ears and sat down.

The large tri-colored male rolled his eyes slightly and let out an exasperated breath. Females... "Unfair? Who was ever talking about fair? I don't give a rats tail about being fair. Moral is where I base myself, not justice." He shook his head, his ears flopping from side to side. "Females, always think a man is treating them nice because we thinkk they are weaker, oh sheep dung." Duke shook his head and pulled back into the alley.

Sophie rolled her eyes. "Its not that! I'd rather be a male than a puny female." She growled and kicked up dust with her foot. She flicked her tail.

Duke rolled his eyes, ad looked to the sky mumbling slightly. That's a first... "Well little lady, you really got things wrong in your little messed up head, don't you? You don't know... You just don't know." Duke shook his head as he kept walking down the long dark alley, his tail swishing. "Girly, females got it good. But I wouldn't want to be one when I like to look out for them. Imagine all the pretty females out there, not including you wanting to be male. What a horrible world." Duke pronounced the "not including you" a bit sarcastically and quickly. The brute lied down at the end of the shadowed and dark valley, he curled his foot under him and looked up at the female.

Sophie snorted,and frowned. "It sounds odd,I know." She sat down. "But I don't like being looked like a 'girl' who's weak and can't do anything." She flicked her ears. "You guys got it good.you've actually get to do something."

Duke snorted, and repositioned himself. "Oh yeah, we get to fight, run away, be considered total brutes, hated have enemies. Oh yeah we got it good." Once again the brute paused to shake his head, females they had it all in his opinion. "Now listen up filly, let me tell you what girly's got going for them. Males who are willing to fight for them , lie their life for them. They are always pretty looking and smell sweet. They can be sweet and kind and talk their way out of everything. Males gotta fight outta everything, girly.." Duke looked at her, before placing his head upon the ground.
