Shadowclaw's and Thrushpaw yo!

Thrushpaw padded through the forest, his yellow eyes glancing up as he noticed his mentor leaning on a tree. Padding closer to Shadowclaw, he realized that the warrior was asleep. Thrushpaw sat down, deciding to startle Shadowclaw. Standing up on his paws, Thrushpaw padded over to his mentor, before letting out his best attempt at a howl. Thrushpaw smiled to himself, standing back and looking at his mentor for his response. He knew a bit about Shadowclaw's personality, and wondered if his mentor would be angry.

[Alright Shadowclaw!]

Thrushpaw looked up at Shadowclaw, a slight smirk on his face as his mentor responded. The apprentice nodded, watching as Shadowclaw walked over to the nearby clearing and looked back over at him. "Sorry for waking you up; and could we work on fighting? Or hunting, if you'd rather do that instead." Thrushpaw added, padding over to the edge of the clearing and sitting down. His yellow eyes looked over at his mentor as he waited for Shadowclaw's response; while Thrushpaw was aware he probably wouldn't be the best of fighters, he still wanted to try and become good battle technique.

Thrushpaw flicked his tail, quickly deciding which of the two skills he'd rather work on. "Fighting; definetly fighting." Thrushpaw replied, glancing back at Shadowclaw. The reddish apprentice looked at his mentor, ready for him to speak once more.

Thrushpaw looked up at Shadowclaw, nodding as he heard his mentor's words. The apprentice crouched down, quickly trying to think of all battle moves he knew of. I can't think of any; it looks like I'm on my own. Thrushpaw thought, flattening his ears back and narrowing his yellow eyes. Thrushpaw quickly bolted forward, springing up in the air and trying to bat his paw at Shadowclaw's muzzle.

Thrushpaw yelped as Shadowclaw had moved, and instead ended up landing on the ground. The apprentice tried to get up to his paws, turning around and trying not to fall over again. Quickly deciding to try another battle move, Thrushpaw tried to strike out at Shadowclaw's paws, hoping he'd be able to unbalance his mentor. The apprentice wasn't the largest, however, being only medium-sized; nor was he the strongest.

Thrushpaw looked up towards Shadowclaw, seeing him step back and trip over a tree root. The apprentice ran forward towards his mentor, trying to pin him down. "How did I do?" The reddish-furred apprentice asked, his yellow eyes glancing down at his mentor. He wasn't sure if Shadowclaw would continue the battle or not, though feeling confident, Thrushpaw decided he'd be prepared if his mentor did try another battle move.

Thrushpaw coughed slightly as the dust fell, stepping back as Shadowclaw had sat up. He nodded at his mentor's words, looking around for anything that he could use in battle. "Could brambles work? I could chase my opponent into some brambles, and then it would be hard for them to get out." The apprentice said, looking back to the warrior.

Thrushpaw looked over at Shadowclaw as he replied, before his mentor had shook dust out of his pelt. Thrushpaw coughed slightly, deciding that dust would be a good advantage in a battle. "What should we work on next? More fighting, or something else?" Thrushpaw asked; he was glad to learn anything, though was most glad of the fighting techniques he'd learnt so far.

Thrushpaw looked to Shadowclaw as the warrior replied and had flicked the apprentice's face with his tail. "Okay, okay, I want to learn more about fighting." Thrushpaw said, sitting down and twitching his tail. The apprentice waited for Shadowclaw's response, wondering what fighting moves or techniques they'd work on next.

[It's alright; my post isn't that long either]

Thrushpaw thought for a moment, before coming to a descision. "Do you know of a move that could help anyone end up with the advtantage in a battle? Such as if I were losing, a move that would help me be more likely to win? Any move that would end a battle quickly as well would be alright." Thrushpaw said.

Thrushpaw yelped in surprise as he suddenly found himself pinned down. "You're correct." The apprentice said, his pelt bristled from slight shock. He hadn't been prepared for Shadowclaw to pin him down without notice; certainly that would be a good battle move, he thought.

Thrushpaw listened as Shadowclaw had spoken, and he tried to think of a possible defense move. He first thought about going limp, though Shadowclaw would know he hadn't been hurt; that move probably wouldn't work. Quickly, Thrushpaw brought his head forward, slightly trying to bite one of Shadowclaw's paws, though not enough to hurt. Thrushpaw also tried to roll over onto his side, trying to escape Shadowclaw's pin.
