Following Thunder,she ignored the sharp paw-prints. She padded beside him. Narrowing her eyes from the darkening trees. Fern glanced around. She blinked and flicked her tail.

Thunderpaw's speed quickened until he was going as fast as he could and for a three legged wolf he had learned to go very fast. With ease he jumped over a small boulder and continued not really noticing anything but acting more on instinct. His ear pinned back as the scent got stronger and until it was nearly toxic feeling. He looked ahead, a dark brown figure slumped over a carcass. It looked smaller than a wolf and yet this creature gave him the creeps. He watched as it turned it head towards them revealing sharp fangs and long claws. Had Thunderpaw known what it was he would whispered... wolverine...

Hearing a word,Fern quietly slowed to a stop. She glanced over Thundrpaw's shoulder. Her yellow eyes widened i shock. Fernshade stepped back. She glanced at Thunderpaw. She swallowed the lump in her throat. Certainly Thunderpaw will probably not survive a fight with a wolverine. She shut her eyes. Picturing flesh being ripped part by claws. She opened her eyes and gasped her faced the ground blankly. Her gasp had been loud.
Loud enough for the wolverine to hear.....

Thunderpaw froze and looked at the creature, as it turned its horrid face towards them at Fern's gasp. Thunder closed his eyes and opened them again as the animal began to growl. Thunderpaw felt sudden confidence within himself and he looked up at Fernshade, a slight flirtatious side coming from the young brute. "Don't worry I'll protect you." He growled at it... big mistake...

Hearing a growl,then a voice. Fern turned to see the wolverine. She stood up and snarled at it. Her eyes burning with anger. She snarled and lunged for the wolverine. She gripped onto its tail,and it swung her around. She lay a couple of feet away. The wind knocked out of her. Fern struggled up.

Thunderpaw saw the ferocity it fought with. He gulped and ran up to it anyways. He growled and leapt right on its nose, batting it eyes as it tried to knock him off. The large male growl and chomped onto its ears beginning to climb it. He felt it tug on his leg slightly and kept going. He tried biting its next to its beck but his teeth barely scratched its fur.

Seeing Thunderpaw lunge at it. Fern growled. She launched herself at ot. She saw Thunderpaw's leg being chomped by it.
She snarled and lunged at the wolverine. She took hold of its own leg. She crushed it. She heard to snap.

Thunderpaw sighed softly, his determination dwindling by a fraction. The moment of doubt he felt himself lunged off of the creature and land close by the river. The brutes eyes brightened and a deep snarl erupted from his throat. He lunged forward again, sliding beneath the creature where softer fur replaced the coarse fur upon its back. His claws sliced through the underbelly, only distracting it from Fernshade.

Seeing Thunder rake its belly. She turned her head. Trying to fling it away. It slid in the soft ground. Fern watched the wolverine struggle to stand up. Fern was bristling with excitment. She lunged at it again. She tackled into it. Shooting it into a tree.

Thunderpaw still under it felt crushed for a second, he felt the breath knocked out of him.
As soon as he felt it, it was away a load off his shoulders. Thunderpaw stood up. coiling his back leg beneath and getting off balance. Thunder fell and stood up at the same time the wolverine did. He turned and growled at it, his anger flaring.

Seeing Thunderpaw stand up. Fern nodded to him. Fern then narrowed her eyes at the wolverine. She stepped forward. She snarled,her yellow eyes blazing in,well its undescribable.
She yelled. "Get out and stay out!" The wolverine's eyes were glazed with fear. He glanced at Fern,then at Thunderpaw. It growled then dashed off.
Fern snorted and glanced Thunderpaw. "You ok?"

Seeing it leave Thunderpaw flopped down his sides heaving in pain. He nodded slowly and closed his eyes his tongue falling out. The apprentice was missing water, his once moist nose was dry. He looked at Fernshade, "I didn't do anything to it, but distract it. I was horrible." He rolled over and somehow made his way to the river. He looked into the clear water and plunged his head in. His nose hit the bottom but he didn't care.

Seeing Thunder go head first into the water,Fern sighed and nudged him. She yawned and licked her leg. It was scraped when she tackled the wolverine. She couched and looked down in the water. He licked up soem water as well. Her tongue dry,but now wet.

Thunderpaw sighed and pulled his head out. He limped over to a nearby tree, slipping in the mud. His hind paw was raised slightly, where the wolverine had bit it, and walking was even harder now. The males ears lied back. He had done no damage whatsoever, what kind of warrior was he going to be?

Fern padded over to Thunderpaw. She licked the bite sparingly. And then took some moss and cleaned it. She wrapped it around it. It kind stuck to his leg. She sighed. "Will that work?" She didn't know a thing about herbs. Only about cobwebs. And they stop bleeding. But the wound had died and looked like it hurt.

Thunderpaw now held his ears firmly against his head. "I'll be fine." His tail was low, not a wag or tag to it. The apprentice was going down and fast. He rested slightly upon his paw and looked at Fern, "Whats next?" His voice held no humor, or excitement.

Fern blinked and sat down. She curled her tail around her. "Well,maybe some fighting. What do you want to do?"

Thnderpaw shrugged, "If you noticed, I'm not very good at that..." He sighed and looked up at her, shrugging his shaggy shoulders once more, "Whatever your least good at."

Fernpaw padded into the training clearing, her ears pinned down awkwardly to the back of her head. It would be a little awkwad training with anoter she-wolf after always play fighting with Rowanpaw but ahe would get used to it. With a small sigh, the brown wolf made herself know. "Sorry about running late."

Fernshade shook her head. "You'll do fine if you do your best." Fernshade turned to a voice. She smiled and nodded. "No worries Fawnpaw."

(Umm Keaflight,just come in and take Thunderpaw when you are)

Keaflight walked up and said in her calm tone, "Thunderpaw, Fernshade and i talked, and we decided that you should become my apprentice now as we worked well together taking down that deer". she waited to hear the apprentices voice in what waas going to happen. she hoped that he liked this idea because she wanted the best for the three legged wolf. not because he was three legged but because he reminded her of herself.

Thunderpaw looked up and nodded quietly. No opinion was voiced, he made not a sound as he looked up at her, waiting, waiting for her to lead the way. Thunderpaw sighed and spoke in the slightest whisper, not wanting to speak more. "Lead the way..."

Fernshade turned to see Keaflight. She smiled and nodded. "Yes,you are dismissed Thunderpaw." Fern flicked deer tail.

Keaflight nodded and shot Thunderpaw a look that wasnt consoling but was kind. She would be fair and think up interesting ways to make sure that he was strong. she turned and lead the way to Thunderpaws new training. her strong legs carrying her along at a constant speed.

Thunderpaw ran forward after Keaflight. He had practiced his running on his own, but compared to the warriors he was still running like a pup. Thunder had already began to pant. He tried putting on more speed, but feeling himself wobble went as fast as he could without toppling. Probably the average walk of a grown wolf.
