Ironheart's Cave

This is the place where Ironheart works on his projects--particularly concerning making a lasting source of light for the clan. The room is well-lit, large and has a high ceiling. It also appears to have been carved by water, perhaps when the streams were larger. The cave walls are wetted by the dampness from a few small rivulets. These small streams of water join into a larger one that leads to a pool in the center of the room. The pool is about 2 feet deep and 6 feet across with a small fissure in the floor leading deeper in. The bacteria grow on separate ledges, closer or further from the water source depending on where they were found. There's a few boulders scattered around with more bacteria on them, specifically the ones Ironheart is culturing now. These small samples are laid out in a very precise order in a 'U' type shape. The somewhat-remote cavern is accessed by a crack in the rock by the medicine den that leads down-hill for quite a ways before double-backing and opening into a ledge that leads down to the floor.

Ironheart descended the narrow ledge that lead down to the cave floor, his claws clicking faintly against the stone. He was greeted by the soft light of the Star Watchers that grew on the shelves opposite the entrance. He circled the pool, checking on the small batches of bacteria he had already cultivated. He narrowed his eyes in frustration; he was having little luck and even less of an idea of what the plants needed. As far as he could tell, he'd duplicated the environment that would offer the bacteria normal growth, but he knew something was missing. He sat back on his haunches, settling in for a long stretch of unraveling the intricacies of growing something so maddeningly simple.

Pepperfleck padded down into the dark glowing cave, careful on where she tread her paws. With the rabbit firmly in her mouth, the she-wolf padded over to where she saw Ironheart working. Down the prey dropped, a small pluff filling the silent air of the cave. "Have you eaten at all today, Ironheart?" she asked with a stern voice. She'd gotten one of the kiddies to eat food, now she had to get the second one.

Ironheart looked up as Pepperfleck entered, not bothering to disguise the happy wag of his tail as him turning to meet her. Though his eyes were tired-looking, there was a residual warmth that flickered within them--the coals of a quietly burning fire of passion. He considered lying, but Pepperfleck could always seemed to be able to understand him no matter what he said. "I sustain myself on the energies of the universe, Pepper, we discussed this." His stomach betrayed him, giving a whining moan as he smelled the rabbit. "Those energies being.. this rabbit, thank you, Pepper," he covered, his tone light and playful.

Pepperfleck chuckled softly at her mate. At least the brute was willing to eat something. Her eyes were as warm as Ironheart's as she gazed at him, her amber eyes reflecting the luminescent lights of his projects, making them glow a pale aqua. She shouldered Ironheart lightly and nodded her head to the rabbit. "Your welcome, now eat." She gave his russet ear an affectionate lick as she seated herself next to him.

Ironheart returned a quick smile before he stooped to pick up the rabbit. He picked it up, walked with it about 5 feet before setting it down on an empty space on his workspace before getting pulled away by something else. He glanced at the glowing plants, a little frustrated. "You know, Pepper, how many souls do you think they require to grow? My guess would be 5 each," He shook his head incredulously, glancing back to her with mock resignation. "They're like petulant children," he quipped.

The fae scoffed as Ironheart picked up the prey only to set it down and get distracted. Her mate could be the most frustrating male at times. Scratch that, nearly all the time. Nothing was ever easy with him. A small smile found its way onto her lips. Well, it was never easy but it was worth it. Pepperfleck rolled her eyes as Ironheart started talking about his babies again. She didn't mind that he was always working on the plants and caring for them but sometimes it got frustrating with how much time the male spent down in his cave. She snorted inwardly at his constant excuse, "Everyone needs a hobby." With a shake to her head, the light brown she-wolf spoke up. "You are a petulant child."

Ironheart walked back to the rabbit, giving it a preliminary nibble and then eating a few bites. "It's a bit chewy. I'll have to take it up with the chef, this is not nearly up to standard." He swallowed, feigning dramatic disgust. "Hideous. I'm going to embargo this entire group and make my own." He glanced at her, still rolling with it. "Maybe you would be too if you had a babysitter until you were 1."

Pepperfleck rolled her eyes again but her smile widened when Ironheart ate some of the rabbit, despite his complaints. "Yeah well, have fun talking to Spangledstar about that," she said with an affectionate snort and tail swipe to the side. "And maybe you wouldn't have needed a babysitter until you were one if you had just stayed out of trouble." Her words were a little more heated than she had planned but concern laced them. Ironheart wasn't exactly known for his safe decisions.
