- - Tallfeather trotted into the clearing, excitement coursing through his veins as he sat down, wrapping his tail around his paws. Tallfeather hadn't been in the training hollow for moons, not since he was an apprentice, and he was more than delighted to start mentoring his own. Trying to exercise some control over himself -- he was, after all, the mentor now -- Tallfeather angled his ears back, waiting for Brokenpaw. Tallfeather hoped the young apprentice would be just as eager as he was.

| Brokenpaw padded happily to the clearing. Yay, my fiirst day training! She thought happily. This she had been waiting for a long time. She sat down and waited for her mentor to tell what's the first thing to train. | |

| Tallfeather nodded in greeting to Brokenpaw when she entered the clearing, glad to see that the apprentice looked almost excited as he felt. Tallfeather was glad to have been assigned Brokenpaw as an apprentice - she had always been lively and energetic as a pup, and Tallfeather had no doubt in his mind that Brokenpaw would be the same way as an apprentice. "So," Tallfeather started, sitting down in front of his apprentice. "Where do you wanna start?" | |

| Brokenpaw thought deeply. Hmm, hunting, fighting...which should i choose first... Both the things sounded very fun to her. "Well, i guess hunting first" She decided, almost starting to bounce around of exitement. | |

| Tallfeather nodded, his eyes alight with excitment. "Alright," He said, turning to face the edge of the trainig hollow. A few scrubby bushes lined the edge of the gorse and heather. Looking at his Brokenpaw, he gestured for her to step up to the vegitation. "We're going to start with small prey. Tell me, what do you the the best means would be of searching these bushes for prey?" Tallfeather took a step back, giving his apprentice room to formulate a response. | |

| Brokenpaw looked at the bushes. The best, hmm... She thought. The female walked up to the bushes. She knew rabbits sometimes hide around them. "Um, the bushes sometimes contain rabbits i think." She answered. | |

| Tallfeather nodded, a grin curling his muzzle. "That's right." He praised, impressed that she'd given such a clever response on her first question. "Rabbits may be hiding in the brush, especially during winter. There may even be a den concealed under those brushes." Dropping into a crouch, Tallfeather prowled his way to the edge of the bushes, signaling for Brokenpaw to follow. Lucky for them, the wind was blowing in their direction. "Now," Tallfeather said, dropping his voice to a whisper. "I want you to check the bushes for prey. Try to remain as silent and discreet as possible." | |

| "Ok." The apprentice replied quietly. She crouched and followed. Remaining silent was hard due the sound of the snow on the ground. The female looked into the bushes trying to make no noises. "I think i see a hole in the ground." She whispered. "But i see no rabbits..."

| When Brokenpaw reported her finds, Tallfeather followed her to the edge of the undergrowth. He peered through the brambles, nodding slowly as his eyes landed on the rabbit hole she'd mentioned. "They'll be deep in the ground because its so cold." Tallfeather explained, shooting his apprentice a furtive glance. "We'd have to flush them out in order to catch anything. Do you think you could wriggle a few inches down the hole?" Tallfeather hoped Brokenpaw could. It was a fairly broad tunnel, and she was a small wolf. With any luck, Brokenpaw would be able to get down just a few inches. That alone would alert the prey of her presence and send it bolting out of its shelter. | |

| "Okay" Brokenpaw answered and tried digging a little down into the hole, hoping for the rabbits to come out. After a little time a rabbit jumped up from the hole and ran around in panic. "Tallfeather, it has come up!" She yipped exited. She waited for her mentors command while keeping a eye on the prey. | |

| A grin split Tallfeather's face as Brokenpaw did as he asked. A fully grown rabbit came fleeing from the hole, running in circles in its surprise and panic. Tallfeather hadn't fully known the trick would work, but this prey was golden in such a scarce winter as they were currently enduring. "Great job!" Tallfeather praised, eyes alight with excitment as he turned to the rabbit. "Its frightened," He told his apprentice. "Too scared to properly escape. They usually aren't hunted in the winter. Try to take it down before he comes to his senses!"

| (Yay!)
Brokenpaw started chasing the rabbit around trying to catch it, but it was fast. She snapped at it many times and finally got it. "I got it! Yay!" The apprentice cheered happily, she had caught her first prey! She almost wanted to dance a bit around, but it was way more exiting to learn more about being a great warrior like her mentor.

| Tallfeather grinned as Brokenpaw brought down the rabbit. It was a clumsy, inexperienced kill, but he would expect no less of an apprentice that had just begun their training. Taking the rabbit corpse and nodding his head in approval, Tallfeather dropped the rabbit in the patch of undergrowth. "We'll come back for it later." He told her, still beaming, and then settled down on his haunches. "Would you like to continue hunting, or move onto something different?" | |

| Brokenpaw quickly made a decision. "I'll try fighting training!" The answered happily. She needed to train in all kind of things a warrior needs to know, in her opinion being a warrior was some of the closest things to be the best you can be. The apprentice waited eagerly for her mentors answer. (Why does it always take a little forever for you to reply?) | |

| [ugh I always forget to check, sorrayy.]
Tallfeather nodded. He'd always loved combat training as an apprentice; now was no exception. Tallfeather tried to remember the wise teachings his mentor Russetstar had always passed down to him; now was time to teach Brokenpaw the same aspects. "Alright," He said, sitting down on the gorse ground. "Before we begin, I want you to tell me; what is Windclan's advantage over the other clans?"

| "Our fantastic speed and agility!" Brokenpaw answered quickly. She was kinda sure she had it right, by seeing how fast her clanmates was she had learned alot. She liked the way her mentor asked questions instead of just jumping right over to the training, being a warrior isn't just about slashing and chasing, knownledge is also important. Waiting for her mentors answer she sat down. | |

| Tallfeather nodded in approval. It was true -- Windclan wasn't home of the strongest, burliest wolves, but they were definately the quickest and most agile. "Correct." He told her. Tallfeather dropped into a crouched position. "Because our agility and how lightweight we it, it is hard for prey to see us coming. Try to mirror my position." Tallfeather was used in a stance most commonly used for rabbit hunting; tense and ready to spring. | |

| Brokenpaw copied Tallfeather's position. "Like this?" She asked. The training was geting fun, and when she was done, she would be a warrior, just like her mentor! The apprentice kept standing in the position, wating for her mentors reply. | |

| Tallfeather grinned in approval. Her posture was almost completely correct, an impressive feat for a very first try. Tallfeather rose from his position, using one paw to lower her tail slightly. "You've almost got it. Just remember to keep your tail balanced." Tallfeather instructed. Slowly, the young warrior began to circle Brokenpaw. In a flash, he darted forward, aiming to bowl her over. Tallfeather had yet to teach her anything combatant, but he wanted to see what her initial reaction would be. | |

| Brokenpaw was happy to hear that she had the position almost right. Seeing Tallfeather circle her made her get ready to fight. She was'nt too known in fighting, so a sudeen tackle would be hard to dodge or stop. Not knowing what to do on this instant she just glared sharply in an attempt to paralyze him. | |

| Tallfeather fought back a grin when he saw Brokenpaw's fierce glare. "Good technique, but staring won't get you anywhere." Tallfeather joked. "Remember, we're the quickest wolves around. Use that speed as an advantage - when I attack, try to dodge." Dropping back into position, Tallfeather lunged forward a second time, quick but holding back. If Brokenpaw could master this trick, she would easily move on to more advanced levels. | |

| "Okay" Brokenpaw answered, preparing for Tallfeather's next move. She then dodged to the side quickly. I think i did it! She thought looking over at Tallfeather. Yes, i dodged it! She thought happily. | |

| Tallfeather grinned approvingly as Brokenpaw dodged his blow. He was impressed - her reflexes were quick and sharpened for such a young age. Whirling on his paw, Tallfeather lunged for another move, this time aiming to slither under her belly and unbalance her. It was a slightly more difficult combatant move, but Tallfeather had faith in his apprentice. | |

| Brokenpaw was happy to have done another good move. Seeing Tallfeather attack again she readied herself to dodge. She noticed this one was different, like coming more downwards, giving her an idea. Just moments before getting hit, she jumped up, landing on Tallfeathers back, then leaping down on the ground again. "Im kinda amazed that actually worked..." She mumbled. "But it was fun!" She said. | |

| Tallfeather was surprised as Brokenpaw sprang to attention and jumped on his back before he could collide with her. He hadn't expected her to so easily defend the move on her first try. She had sharp reflexes for an apprentice. "Good job," Tallfeather grinned, shaking his fur as she sprung back down on the ground. "Its exactly the tactic Windclan wolves are best at. Our speed and nimbleness allow us to easily spring back and forth." | |
