Post-Apocalyptic Canine RP

Year 3084. The humans managed to wipe themselves out through their own complete disregard and carelessness of nature. They wiped each other out, the human race is now extinct except for small bands of survivors who seem cannibalistic and zombie-like. They eat anything they can get their hands on, it seems. All the other nature is slowly dying out as well. This story is set in the dilapidated city of New York. The buildings seem to be only skeletons of what they once were, and undrinkable water is on every corner. It's hard to find anything to eat- nevermind drink- and canines seem to rule this place now. Some have advanced to survive- survival of the fittest and natural selection, I'd say. Some will be left behind in the dust. Personalities are unpredictable- one second you might be best buddies with your friendly wolf neighbor, and the next second he's betrayed you and is gnawing on your leg. There's only one goal here now: survive as long as you can.

Because of how bad the pollution got, the occasional mutant may pass through and have grown and extra leg, eye, or even a head. Maybe they're a zombie now or have huge fangs that don't seem to stay in their mouths. Whatever the case, we're all in it together now.

Her tail still between her legs, she whined and Arya's eyes warily moved back and forth between the large, slobbering canine and the angry multi-colored one. She swallowed once before saying "Arya." She didn't know what his problem is, all the white canine wanted now was some peace and some directions. Her owners had to be here somewhere, didn't they? The golden tag on her collar made an audible sound as she scraped it on the ground and debris, still backing away. She didn't trust either of these wolves whatsoever. How had she jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire like this?

Riley strongly resisted the urge to roll his eyes at the white dog's behaviour towards his confrontation, though he was glad that he finally received a name. 'That's a start,' he thought to himself idly, before progressing further. "And what is your business here, Arya, staring my way?" he shot back, his tail slightly raised now. He didn't trust anybody on the streets at a first glance, and he wouldn't take her fear for granted and become friendly. Even the nicest, or most fearful and non-dominant dog could prove just an act, as he had learned the hard way during his early years of being a stray. Therefore, he would continue his straight up and aggressive attitude. If he stayed in contact with another animal long enough, they would eventually gain his trust. And before them, he would eventually become more friendly as well, in which an entire new side would come out.

When she saw neither the dogs were coming closer, she stopped backing up. The way the male dog was acting towards her made her angry, a side one did not normally see. He was acting arrogant and conceited. "And why is that your business?" she responded, her eyes narrowing slightly. Though she did not move back any further, she was still extremely cautious and her tone conveyed this. She wanted help, but not from someone like this. There was no way this wolf could be trustworthy whatsoever. He would have to gain her trust first, before she'd give out any more information. What if he planned on hurting her owners or mocking her when he discovered her true purpose? Perhaps if he had been more friendly and not had such a confrontational tone, she would have given more information. But obviously this was not the case.

Riley gave a start, baffled by her sudden change in personality as she shot a comment right back at him. Letting his lip raise slightly over his teeth, now feeling a threat come from this female, and took one small step forward. "I would believe it's all my business if I'm the one you're staring at," he spat, lashing his tail. His immediate response to her behavioral switch was that he was right to not trust her in the first place. Though he couldn't help but to wonder what her true purpose was her gaze towards where he stood. Was it curiosity, interest, just a coincidence and that she was simply taking in the entire area, or something deeper than that. But for now, he held his ground and awaited another reply from her.

"I think I have a right to, considering you're glaring at me like you're about to rip my throat out." Arya replied, her voice low. She looked away from the male and instead at the roads leading out. What would be the safest route out of here? Obviously she should look elsewhere for directions or guidance and more information of what the heck was going on around here. She would go back to the park to meet the tall-legged female, however she only said everyone was dead, and that had to be a lie! There was no way it could be true. The slobbering brute seemed rabid, and the male dog was just confrontational, aggressive and completely untrustworthy. She figured they would prove to be no other threat, so she turned her tail and walked straight for a route out of there, her white tail curled. If she was going to leave the confrontation, mine as well leave it confidently. As she did, she felt her heart drop even further in her stomach as she thought of her owners. What if these were the last dogs around? It was probably not true, but you never knew... And if she walked away now she would not be any wiser. Arya stopped walking and thought about it. What should she do?

Mint slowly neared the beach. The hot breeze was still transfering into a cool sea breeze. As soon as her large paw touched the sand she broke into a run. Splashing the water against her heavy pelt it refreshed her. Thoughts shot to her but one snagged on her. To journey far to find someone to have and to keep her company. So once she had her fun she made her way to the top of a large sturdy building. Looking into the distance she decided to move East. Towards the more tropical and cooler climates. From what she heard she was in Texas. So she climbed down and started trotting towards the East.

Physical Description: She is a German Shepard/Timber Wolf hybrid weighing 65 lbs and standing at 2.5 feet tall. She has amber eyes. Her pelt color is black with brown markings. She wears a chained collar.
Personality: Despite the manly name, she definitely earned the name. She was trained to kill on command. She has a fierce temper but will become extremely loyal to love ones. She was abused severely making her not trusting of anyone and a low knowledge of love.
History: Chinook was the guard dog to a family of survivors who were still not zombified. The father, who was an Ex-Cop, trained Chinook to fight off potential enemies. She was chained to the front porch. One evening, the daughter went outside to play. An zombied human caught the attention of the parents and the girl, soon shooting them to death. Chinook escaped from the house to find new shelter.

The large Shepherd watched the dogs and strange canine creature for a time, from what she saw the white fluffy dog was extremely unsure. The way her fur was finely kept made her think she had been owned, the sound of the collar dragging on the ground only confirmed her suspicions. For a rare moment the female felt sorry for the white dog, she had no idea what was going on, she had lost everything familiar, everything she loved seemingly over night.

And so in a rare case of sympathy the female stepped out from behind the bushes, she would never had done this if she though she would be in any danger. But one of the canines was young, a pup, the other gave off an air of pure excitement and play meaning he meant no harm...For the time being, the red canine, the one she could not identify was one she needed to keep an eye one. Out of all of them she seemed to most sensible, she had not shown any particular anger toward the ivory female. Of course that did not mean she would react the same to the much bigger German Shepherd that had seemingly appeared out of nowhere.

Using their distraction the darker canine silently approached, positioning herself behind the group so only the white dog could see her. Then calmly, almost as if it were an after thought the Shepherd cleared her throat to announce her presence.Preferring to remain silent as she observed the other's reactions, with this sudden encounter she would attempt to get a feel for each canine, they generally showed their true colors when faced with an unexpected event. After the surprise of course, would they show excitement or curiosity, aggression or fear, or simply a politeness she would go from there. The sight of the white dog sticking u[ for herself amused the Shepherd, but her face nor eyes showed it, only a mild bit of attention seemed directed toward the others, as if they were simply an after thought, a piece of scrap that had simply caught her attention for a brief moment. Only when her eyes met the house-dog did they briefly become friendly and understanding, she knew what it was like to lose loved ones and be placed in a situation that she did not understand.

(Nice name for your character there, Jay.)

Riley snorted as the female went on. "Why should I do otherwise? I do not know who you are," he snarled, growing angrier by the minute. Everything was fine and dandy before she turned aggressive herself. He was simply standing his ground, defending his right, before she began snapping comments back. He wasn't going to take things further, though his mind was slowly changing, His temper was hard to control, and that was being demonstrated quite nicely now.

Chinook was awoken by the mumbling voices of nearby canids. Her disturbed sleep was not what she needed. Her sleep was the main thing on her mind. She snarled seeing the group of animals chatting along when the world around them is crumbling apart. The female barked to an make who seemed to woken her up, "Hey Mister. No one EVER disturbs my slee- wait. Why is there a group of canids.. Together. I was told this world was solo?"

Mint's long legs sprinter across the hot dry grounds. Her tounge lolling out of her mouth. Her milky white coat ruffled in the crisp winds. Stopping to hunt she was barely successful catching a small young calve. She carried the remains in her jaw. Once she was clearly close to her destination. She found that she was heading North east. It was still humid and dry. But she was willing to continue. Padding into this crammed city that was broken down and plain torn. So she set down the carcass and gave out a confused howl.

Chinook whipped around to catch a glimpse of a feme dire wolf. She snarled loudly approaching the stranger, "Who are you?" The female Shepard/Wolf hybrid tilted her head. Soon, she started to circle her wondering when this animal would speak.

As the ragged dog looking creature spun to face me I raised my hackles. "I am Mint, the last of the dire wolves." She bared her long fangs and slowly circled along with the canine. I snarled ready to kill at any moment. My claws sunk into the dry cracked ground. My spiritual body tensed. She was eager to prove her strength and size.

Chinook quickly got into a defensive posture. Her amber eyes glared at the dire wolf. She quickly snarled, "Your on." She quickly dashed into the female.

She opened her jaws letting out a viscious snarl. She leaped over the canine aiming her claws on her back. She stretched her forepaws and extended her body.

Rayen heard a commotion a little ways from the park, rolling her eyes the ever growing Shepherd lifted her head and let out a howl saying." The time is early, this time of little food and water is only going to get worse. Conserve your energy your you risk death, of course feel free to dye, your might save the population any father acts of your idiocy. " She was annoyed that dogs rushed so quickly into battle, she liked the occasion bit of bloodshed, but now was not the time to go wasting energy of needless fights when they could get along and use their numbers to find food.

She also was not happy with it because the white female was already jumpy, a fight would only scare her more. And she did not want that, she was merely here to try and help her out. It appeared that the other dogs had not noticed her, of course her howl should have fixed that, if not the four foot tall German Shepherd would have to figure out another way of getting them to pay attention to her.

She continued with snarling although I backed towards the howl. Mint refused to back down so easily. So she ran back and grabbed her carcass and brought it towards the canine that created the howl. Although she kept her eyes on the female. Giving her a cold hard stare she allowed the canines to feed of of her barely touched meal.

Rayen smelled the approaching wolf before she saw her, and what she saw caused her to roll her eyes. The female was large that was for sure, a head taller then herself, but that was not what caused the 'oh brother' eye rolling. No it was the way she carried herself, this canine was looking for a fight, whether that fight involved survival or not it appeared the Dire wolf did not care. And now she seemed to think Rayen was her opponent, wolves like this one made it difficult for everyone else....To Rayen they were an annoying bother, adults with a childish attitude.

Shifting her body so she was sideways to the female, telling her plainly through body language that she did not want anything to do with her or her temper. The female Shepherd watched the other out of the corner of her eye, waves of calm boredom wafting from her.

Mint was unsure about the presence of all these mutts. She lowered her hackles but not because she was told they didn't want to fight. It was for the reason that she had no reason to be threatened. Her mind was swirling with harsh comments. But she just flickered her minty green eyes toward the calf carcass.

The German Shepherd watched the wolf simmer down, it appeared that she decided against a fight. She nodded, ' good, at least the girl has some sense' she thought to herself as she watched the other look back at something. Scenting the air Rayen picked up the smell of a kill, so she had fresh meat meaning she would be quite hostile and on edge. It would be better if she moved on and left the others be, ears perking forward Rayen turned and acknowledge the newcomer now that she had settled down some.

Hers ears twitched and she decided to go take a breather allowing the others to eat while she regained her energy from her journey. So she padded to a grassy patch and stretched out keeping an eye open just incase someone decided to sneak up on her. But her pelt was thick especially around her neck and chest. So she tried to rest even with the sun beaming down on her.

Rayen cocked her head when the she-wolf left to lay in the grass, seemingly inviting them to partake of her kill. Slowly but confidently the German Shepherd approached the kill and began to eat, never taking her eyes off of the Dire Wolf in case she decided to become hostile.

Once finished the female returned to the others, completely passing the to go near the white female. Licking her lips clean of all the blood the she-wolf smiled down at the lighter colored dog, her eyes were friendly her body langauge showing nothing but calm.

Mint sat up feeling cooler she shoo the debris and bugs off of her. Then she walked over to the kill and gently took a small scrap and stepped two feet back to eat in peace.

She turned around slowly and looked at the aggressive dog. "I am Arya." she repeated. "I don't live here. I'm here looking for... something." her ears flicked back and then to the front again. Hopefully the explanation would be sufficient. To be honest, she wasn't sure why he was being so angry, since she wasn't threatening him and wasn't even being aggressive- only offensive.

Chinook looked around for something to eat. She yawned letting out a low growl. Her stomach rumbled loudly as she craved for some meat. With no sign of food, Chinook would have to go hungry.
