Hartford Pound

The dog catcher uses the pound to place dogs that he finds in the streets. Some people may decide to buy a dog from this pound, but most prefer to purchase from breeders due to the unknown history of said dogs. Dogs that have been here a while face being put down in order to free up space for newer dogs. Generally speaking this pound is quite unpleasant with a doggy smell that you can't seem to get away from. The employees here try their best to keep the animals healthy and happy, but there is only so much you can do with the little space provided for pens as well as an outside area for dogs to run around in for exercise.

Raj ignored the female, the rest of the way. He slipped in the cage slightly, the bottom covered in his paws blood and his under fur crimson red. He sighed and waited until he heard the car stop. He perked his ears and raised his head, looking out waiting. The door opened slowly.

Being set in the same cage,Sophie flicked her tail. She shook he read. "Hey,ya big mama's lute." She sighed. "If we want to get out of here,then we need to get along. We need a plan." Sophie swallowed the lump in her throat. Whenever she was around this dog,she felt chills in her spine. But they felt good.she didn't know why.

Raj stayed quiet as he was slowly taken toi the same cage as Sophie. He could hear the hushed whispers of the longpaws and watched them carefully. He only understood half of what they said, but he knew they planned on doing something with his leg. His tail wagged slowly before he looked back at the Cattle Dog. "Malamute... and if ya wanna get out do it yourself. I'm waiting for my leg to get better first before I even think about growling at another longpaw again." He wasn't curt but he lied down and ignored the pain in his leg which flared like fire slowly rising.

Sophie sighed and shook her head. "I've seen what they do to dogs who stay too long here." She closed here eyes. Relieving the experience.

In a dark room,shadows loomed in the darkness. Sophie was standing on a roof. Peering into a pound's window. She watched carefully.
They brought a dog inside. She saw them. She saw them kill it.

Sophie shook her head. "They kill the dogs when the pine gets full." Sophie blinked. They needed to get out of here.

Raj lifted his head, "I know..." He tilted his head, "I was born in here, umm don't know your name. My turn was next, I got adopted last minute. I'm lucky and I'm not planning on dying or letting you die. Just let them fix this up, until then. I won't let them hurt you got that?" His attitude was the same to all females, he didn't like any getting hurt.

Hearing Raj talk,she pinned her ears to the back of her head. "Umm,thanks Raj. And I'm Sophie. Sorry about that earlier. With the,pack and all." Sophie lifted her ears and turned and observed the pound carefully.
She narrowed her eyes every time a Longpaw pasted. She padded around the cement den. She found a doggy flap in the back. Sophie went into it. It was a small outdoor area. It was fenced. She growled. "With their cold silver things." She padded around the fence's limits. She blinked and pawed at it. She sighed and shook her head.
She went back inside. She returned to Raj and nodded to him. "I have an idea on how to get us out."

Raj was lying in the corner, the musky sent of other dogs and their pitiful barks buzzing annoyingly in his ears. His dark eyes looked up at the female he had been penned with and he tilted his head his tongue flopping out on accident. He slurped it back in and stood up with much effort. His leg coiling, he looked at her, "How?"He stuck his large head outside.

She sighed. Then shook her head. "it might sound stupid. But we can maybe bury under the fence and run."
Hearing a thump,Sophie flicked her ears and looked out the metal fence. He saw a familiar white pelt.
She whispered loud enough for her to hear. "Hey you. Over here."

Raj narrowed his eyes, "Unless we worked endlessly we couldn't..." Hi head turned the soft sounds of human steps reaching his fluffy ears. The male froze in the back corner as the longpaw stopped in front of the cage. Ra looked up at him and then at Sophie.

Hearing a Longpaw step I'm front of the cage. She decided to do sometching. I can't let him know that shes here and not in a cage. She started barking furiously at p,well the Longpaw. Hoping got distract him enough for her to get away,

Seeing the Longpaw grab a long hose. She growled. She was met with a wetting . Shes hook her pelt. And it splashed on the Longpaw. She growled. "Never mess with a female." She snorted and retreated to outside. Eh rolled in the grass trying got dry herself. She stood up and gave it another goof shake. She muttered curses under her breath.

Raj watched them and shook his head. He watched the longpaws wet the fae and couldn't help but chuckle slightly until the man dared make his way in. He made his way with caution and Raj instantly knew how this man felt. It was probably his first time, and begin encountered with such a large dog shattered his courage revealing his fright. Raj rolled his eyes and waited until the longpaws grabbed the pole and placed it around his neck. "Its not like I want to get wet. The male followed him slowly, the mans confidence boosting as they went, while Raj's slowly fell.

Sophie wander the some kind if yard. She yawned. She stepped back through the flap. Just in time to see Raj being pulled away by a stick. She stood in front if the cage it was slightly open. She grinned and stepped through. Following the twolegged quietly.

Raj looked down at the, the boringly colored tiles holding nothing of real interest. At times a skid mark would appear or a slight scratch here or there but never something for the large male to continually keep looking down at the floor. He kept in slow pace with the longpaws, who cooed soft words of encouragement to the large male. Raj rolled his eyes to himself, he wasn't scared of death or getting his leg fixed. If Raj was afraid he wouldn't be letting this tiny excuse of a longpaw be pulling him through the rows of cages of dogs. Dogs on either side would pause and look out, some querulously to what was happening while others seemed to laugh. They may have though they were to kill him and it even crossed Raj's mind. But he never once pulled away from the man who continued speaking in soft tones. But his tones were drowned out by the voices of other dogs, and Raj began to growl his anger boiling within him. Such an anger arose that he would have attacked every dog in there had they not been behind the barred cages. So instead the male gave them a look, a look that said, "I'm out here, you're in there... whos the loser now?" He scampered after the human, the room suddenly silent. Neither human nor dog noticed the white female lagging behind them.

Sophie crawled after the Longpaw. She shot a look at every dog. "We'll get you out. Just shut your yap." Sophie followed quickly. It seemed this was the boy Longpaw here at the moment. All the rest were probably catching other dogs.

Raj followed slowly the slow walk to wherever they were going eternal feeling. Soon enough though they reached a door and both passed through before it locked behind them. Raj just had seconds to react, as he felt his hurt leg touched slightly before he completely lost feeling in it.

Sophie was shut out. She growled. But hid behind a pile of old rags. They smelled terrible. But she was going to watch. She was going to watch what would happen.

The old door squeaked open, an eerie squeak much resembled to the one when walking through an abandoned house. A squeak that sent shivers down the spine who opened it. The halls had become quiet... too quiet and it was nerve, wracking. A large booted foot appeared and once put down they stumbled. Raj was drowsy, his eyes droopy and confused. The man was attempting to carry the large dog but ended up stumbling and falling. The man could already be heard panting and it was obvious he wasn't going to be able to carry Raj all the way. The man stood up, shaking slightly and nudged the large dog with his foot. Raj in turn stood up and droopily started walking after the man, his large pink tongue flopped out and his manner of walking was strange. They walked back, slowly, sluggishly but they walked back.

Sophie saw Raj walking back. She couldn't see his broken leg in the rags. She narrowed her eyes. If they did something to Raj,I'll. Sophie snorted.

Raj walked into the cage and slumped down in the back. He felt so drowsy and strange, like he was floating on clouds. His vision was blurred and his tongue hung limply, he couldn't even feel it. Raj chuckled to himself as the person shut the door but not completely probably thinking Sophie was outside. Raj slumped his head down and tried to regain his focus.

Sophie watched Raj. Wondering what happened to him. She watched him closely. What happened?

Raj's head cleared up and he looked at Sophie, "I got my leg fixed." He wiggled his back leg which was covered up. "Turns out it was broken, but then I got all droopy and all went blank." He yawned and lied down in the corner curling up and smiling at the female, "Give me two days or less. We'll be outta here."
