Moonpaw, Dawnpaw & Heatherpaw Training with Russetstar

Russetstar walked into the area, dominated by a large tree stump. Having asked Moonpaw, Dawnpaw and Heatherpaw to join him here, in this isolated little area, he waited patiently. The wind whistled through the dry twigs and logs nearby.

(Sorry for short post, no creativity.)

(Since Moon is now a warrior, it'll just be Russet, Heather and Dawn.)

"Good," the crabby Clan Leader said, "So. There's some rabbits in this area - use this position to be hidden by the foliage around. Use your dark pelt colours to your advantage. I'll give you a demonstration."

Russetstar crept forward, avoiding swishing his tail on the ground. He stalked a rabbit he could see in the vegetation, and, quietly placing one paw in front of the other, he moved towards it.
In a single bound and a flurry of dust, the dark brown male leapt onto the small herbivore, and bit into it's neck. The prey went limp, and he trudged back towards the apprentices. "You try," he said, dumping the carcass.

Heatherpaw watched as her mentor demonstrated, making light work of the small creature that had fallen into his grasp. Nodding in a sort of gesture of understanding, the young female swung her muzzle around swiftly, trying to detect the scent of the creature that she was attempting to hunt. Pausing as a scent wafted towards her, Heatherpaw's pupils dilated as she tried to locate the animal amongst the grasses and hillocks and created WindClan territory. Spotting movement up ahead, the apprentice hesitated for a split-second, trying to recall Russetstar's posture and actions in his demonstration before beginning her challenge again, her eyes fixed upon the unfortunate rabbit. Stalking forward she placed her paws as silently upon the ground as possible, and kept her body low; her belly fur hovering an inch or so above the ground. Pouncing on the rabbit, her claws extended, she landed just short of her target as it made a startled attempt to escape. Giving chase as the rabbit darted away before her, Heatherpaw raced after it with her tail streaming out behind her. Gaining on her prey she pounced again, this time bring her claws down on the rabbit and killing it quickly with a sharp bite to it's neck. Picking up the carcass triumphantly in her jaws, she carried it back towards Dawnpaw and Russetstar, a proud glint in her eyes. "How was that?"

(Am i right to assume that Heatherpaw's injured paw is forgotten in this aspect of training? As that may delay her progress for quite some time?)

Dawnpaw lifted her nose and sniffed the air. 'Rabbit,' she thought as she scented the animal. She looked around and spotted the rabbit, a little way upwind of them. She crouched down and stalked towards it. A twig snapped when she accidentally stepped on it. The rabbit perked up its ears and started. Growling and cursing herself, she put on a short burst of speed and caught it before it could make two fox lengths away and pounced on it. She killed it with a swift bit to the back of its neck. Dawnpaw dragged the limp carcass back to her mentor and Heatherpaw.
