| Pinepaw trotted forward quickly, his tan-furred paws moving him in the direction of where he would be training. The apprentice was excited for this. He liked learning about new things, and as an apprentice there was much to learn. He also thought about battle training; he thought he'd be good at that due to him usually thinking before he did anything. "Hey, Ripplestone." The red wolf said as he walked over to the other wolf. | |

| [color=green]Ripplestone looked up from her spot under a shaded tree, they were in the last moon of Leafbare, she couldnt wait till newleaf and greenleaf. shaking her head she stood and said "hey Pinepaw, any ideas of what you want to learn first?". her black backed ears perked forward as she watched the other wolf. | |

| Pinepaw shook his head as some snow fell off of a tree, his brown eyes looking at Ripplestone. "How about we work on practicing to find prey? I could try hunting something after I scent it out." He said. He also wanted to work on battle practice as well, and scouting for predators seemed interesting. He didn't mind what they worked on; he would not even mind finding herbs. The red-furred wolf was excited by being an apprentice. | |

| Ripplestone nodded adn crouched down in the snow, she said softly "first of all lets practise your hunting technique. remember to keep your tail stiff above the ground so that way it dosent alert the prey, also if its a mouse step lightly they can feel vibrations". her blue eyes sparkled with happiness, she was enjoying mentoring this thoughtfull apprentice. she curled her tail over her paws and said "now you try". she then scented the air wondering what pinepaw would be able to find. | |

| Pinepaw glanced at his mentor as she crouched down, saying to work on his hunting technique. He crouched down as well, his tail held above the ground as his mentor said, though his tail was up a bit too high; prey would be able to see him coming. He practiced stepping forward lightly as Ripplestone had said. "Is this alright? Or would prey see me?" The red apprentice asked. He sniffed at the air, it seemed that there were some birds nearby, in the trees; he would have thought birds would be somewhere else. They could have been hawks, though, he remembered them when he was a pup. The reddish wolf thought he could also smell two mice, and fish that were in a pond or river, or a stream. "I think I can scent a few hawks, two mice, and some fish." Pinepaw said, looking at his mentor. | |

| She nodded with approval and replied "remember to keep your tail out straight behind you, now we can practise fishing now or land animals". she smiled gently her blue eyes glittered with love and kindness. she loved pups/apprentices. she was also a bit of a loner. | |

| Pinepaw nodded, getting into a better hunter's crouch. "How about we work on fishing?" He asked, standing up on his paws. He thought Ripplestone had been of RiverClan once, so if she knew how to fish that would be good. He wanted to learn of techniques the other Clans had, so he could use them as well. | |

| Ripplestone nodded and turned trotting toward the river, crouching down she said. "you always want to keep your shadow out of the water so the fish wont see you". she had learned her fishing skills from Stoatblaze when they had come to sunclan. her heart beat faster as she thought of the powerful warrior that had come to fill her heart with joy. she smiled at pinepaw and then demonstrated the scoop that warriors used to scoop the fish out of the water. | |

| Pinepaw walked over to the river, laying down at its side. He looked up at Ripplestone as she spoke of how to fish, and had showed how to scoop a catch out of the river. He stood up on his paws, walking over to the river's edge. A flash caught his attention, and quickly the red apprentice reached in with his paw. He didn't catch a fish, however, sending him landing into the icy river. | |

| Ripplestone giggled and gently reached over, she grabbed him by the scruff and gently pulled him out. she fluffed out her fur and remembered training with Graystar as an apprentice. an ache entered her heart as she remembered the Kind leader showing ehr the whens and whys of the clan. she crouched down and said "you had plenty of heart but wait to make sure it is a fish next time not just a shiny rock". she winked a blue eye at the spirited apprentice. | |

| Pinepaw looked up at Ripplestone as she pulled him out of the river. "T-Thanks." He stammered, shaking out his pelt. The water was cold, and it being Leafbare made it worse. "I thought I saw a fish, I'll try next time to catch it." | |

| She nodded and gave him a kind smile, she then said "dont forget to sink your claws into its scales for better grip as you scoop it out". she showed him her feet that were riverclan paws. well webbed brilliant for swimming. she said "you are doing really well for your first time near the water, the first time i went in the water i got captured by a two leg as i was drowning, dont worry though two legs never come up here". she smiled kindly at the apprentice. | |

| Pinepaw looked at Ripplestone and nodded. She had shown to him that her paws were webbed; instead, the red wolf was more for running than for swimming. "Twolegs? They live by the river, in the forest?" Pinepaw asked, leaning his head to the side. His brown eyes glanced back at the river, still alert for fish as he wondered what his mentor's response would be. | |

| Ripplestone mused over the old riverclan land, "there was a nest further downstream from where the camp was, a good thing that the two leg did save me other wise i would have been fish food". she replied her black paws resting on the earth neatly. she twitched her ears adn thought about Graystar, she wasnt willing to admit how much the kind leader had been like a mother to her. she glanced down at her paws knowing that after Pinepaw became a warrior that she would have to retire to the nursery for a while. nervous excitement fizzed inside her. | |

| Pinepaw nodded as he listened to Ripplestone. Perhaps, then, Twolegs could be good as well, the apprentice thought to himself. Hearing a splash, the wolf's large ears perked up, and his eyes looked in the river's direction. A second splash followed, and he could see silver beneath the cold waters of the river. Quickly, Pinepaw dashed forward, splashing at the water with his paws. He felt something brush against him, so he reached in with his mouth. The red-furred wolf reappeared, a fish in his jaws. Pinepaw quickly walked over to Ripplestone. "I finally caught a fish!" Pinepaw said, setting it down. | |

| Ripplestone said "well done! i didnt catch a fish till i was a warrior". she grinned proudly at her apprentice. she was enjoying mentoring him he was smart and careful. she flicked her tail and said "next time make sure your shadow doesnt hit the water and wait on the bank, then scoop it out with a paw". she grinned "though for a first time that was brilliant!" she congratulated himl. | |

| Pinepaw nodded, feeling more proud in catching a fish as his mentor said she didn't catch one until she had been a warrior. He nodded once more as she told him how to fish better; he knew he would have a lot to learn. "So, what's next?" He asked, looking at Ripplestone as he wondered if they'd continue on fishing or work on something different instead. | |

| Ripplestone said kindly "try catching a couple more fish to make sure that you remember the technique then perhaps we can start on battle moves". her ears perked with intrest as she watched her apprentice. she had enjoyed battle practise as an apprentice, although she faintly recalled tripping over her feet alot. | |

| Pinepaw nodded, walking back over to the river shore. He sat down, his honey brown eyes watching for any splashes. As soon as he heard one, Pinepaw dashed forward into the water, not remembering how Ripplestone told him to scoop the fish out with a paw, and he leaped under the cold water. Paddling towards the fish as fast as he could, it saw him and bolted away. Pinepaw came back out to the surface, growling in frustration as he tried to paddle back to the shore. Another fish caught his attention, and he glanced at it quickly. Should I try to catch the fish or scoop it out? I could miss if I try doing what Ripplestone said. I'll need to practice the proper fishing technique however. The fish could move out of the way. I'll need to be downstream of it. Pinepaw thought. Knowing he probably should have stayed on the shore, he paddled, not being a good swimmer, downstream as fast as he could. He looked back at the fish, who had been caught in a current and was just now nearby him. With a paw, he splashed under the water and threw the fish onto the shore, where he paddled back and placed a paw ontop of it, feeling it go limp as he bit it. He decided he would try catching one from the shore next. | |

| Ripplestone grinned "good job Pinepaw, thats a good catch, salmon i think". she dug a hole and buried the salmon for pinepaw to bring back to camp later. her feathery tail swished through the air before she sat down and watched her apprentice again. she knew that soon she would have to retire to the nursery. she flicked her ears and decided that she would retire to the nursery once pinepaw became a warrior. | |

| Pinepaw nodded, looking at the fish as Ripplestone buried the catch. It was a salmon; he would be sure to remember that name. Shaking out his fur, soaked from the river, the red apprentice sat down near the shore. Making sure his shadow couldn't be seen, he watched for any indications that a fish may be nearby. A gray flash caught his attention, and he noticed a minnow. He decided that was too small to be of anything to the Clan, so he looked for another fish. A salmon was next to show up, so he reached in as quickly as he could with a paw. He felt the fish, cold and trying to move away, and scooped it out with a paw, placing it on the bank. It managed to hop right into the water before he could get a hold on it, so Pinepaw growled in frustration. | |

| Ripplestone grinned and showed him a particular sort of grab. demonstrating it on a branch she swiped her paw at it and scratched it hard with her claws leaving deep gouges. then with a quick flick of her tail she was on it and crushing the top of it. returning to pinepaw she said "slap that fish like its your worst enemy, sink your claws into its scales to wound it. then while it flops on the riverbank deliver the final blow. | |

| Pinepaw's honey brown eyes focused on Ripplestone as she showed him another move. "Alright, I will then." He said, padding over to the river's edge. He spotted a fish, though he knew that one was too far; he'd end up falling in the river again if he reached for it. Instead, two minnows were much more close to him. He made sure his shadow wasn't over the water, lifting up his left paw. When one of the minnows came nearby, he plunged his paw into the water and scooped it up. He tried to imagine the minnow as one of his fears; that wouldn't really work, since he was mainly afraid of being outcast or of small places. Let's see how this minnow would be had it been a hawk. Funny, it's much smaller than anything a hawk would even eat. He thought, slamming the fish down onto the ground. He bit it quickly, and looked back at the river. The second minnow was further downstream; he couldn't catch it now, without the chance of falling into the cold river. | |

| Ripplestone nodded with approval and said "well i suppose with the threat of these blood thirsty wolves i should teach you some battle moves no?". she tilted her head her blue eyes twinkling with amusement. "dont be afraid to use your paws as blows, swing hard and fast so your opponent cant get an attack in anywhere, the best defense is to be on the offense". | |
