| Ripplestone found herself tripping over Pinepaw and falling into the dust. sneezing she shook the thick heavy dust from her pelt and she stood. her blue eyes glittered with approval. she grinned and said "good good, remember the sweep, run at them pretending to aim for their throat then sweep down low and grab a paw. its a devastating move" she grinned. | |

| Pinepaw stumbled and fell down as well as Ripplestone had tripped over him. He shook his fur, trying to get the dust off of him. "Okay, I'll remember." He said, and padded backwards. He crouched down, his brown eyes looking up at Ripplestone. Quickly he ran forward, his eyes looking at her throat. The apprentice knew Ripplestone would know what he was doing, though he thought he should practice anyways. He suddenly changed his aim, crouching down as he ran and leaped towards her paws. | |

| Ripplestone acted as another wolf would. amining to defend herself against the throat grab, and acting startled as she felt his teeth around one of her black paws. she blinked and grinned down at him "thats how another wolf would act. let me show you how to get out of the grab now" . she reared up then flipped him onto his back. landing down with her paws on his chest she grinned. | |

| Pinepaw smiled, proud that Ripplestone had let his move be successful; though he yelped as he suddenly found himself in the air and on his back. Ripplestone had him pinned down. Blinking, his brown eyes looked up at his mentor, unsure what had happened. He tried to get free, not knowing what move he could use to get out of his mentor's hold | |

| She flicked her ears and said "shove your back paws into my belly Pinepaw, or rake your claws down my belly". she waited calmly for his response. it would count as a defensive move as he was using it in a sort of defense. her blue eyes glittered with kindness for her apprentice. | |

| Pinepaw nodded, going limp for a few moments. Quickly he pushed back out with his hind paws, trying to get free from his mentor's pin. He was careful not to hurt Ripplestone as he tried moving away. The apprentice was glad Ripplestone was his mentor; she was kind and a skillful warrior. He focused back on the practice fight, wondering if his move would be successful. | |

| Ripplestone released him and backed up saying "good good, lets work on your defensive skills now. that includes moving out of the way and blocking attacks". she grinned then lunged at him. aiming to nip at his neck. her blue eyes glittered with determination and kindness. | |

| Pinepaw nodded in a quiet way of saying 'alright', watching as Ripplestone lunged at him, aiming for his neck. He quickly crouched down, trying to move out of the way, and placed one of his paws out in hopes it would unbalance Ripplestone and lead to him having more time to defend himself. The red apprentice thought of possible outcomes, trying to have a move ready for each of them. He might not have been the best at quick thinking, though he thought he was good when it came to battle tactics. | |

| Pinepaw yelped as he found himself on his side; he must have fallen as Ripplestone tumbled over him. "Thanks Ripplestone." He said with a smile. The apprentice stood up on his paws, looking his mentor. "Should I try out another defense move, or should we work on something else?" | |

| "hmm, try another defensive move then we will practise your tracking skills". she flicked her ears with pride in pinepaw. she stood and leapt at him while he was unprepared. aiming to slip under him and trip him over. she wondered what he would come up with to stop her from doing so. she grinned. | |

| Pinepaw nodded, blinking in surprise as Ripplestone leaped at him. He hadn't expected that to happen; he didn't have a move prepared that would work. He tried crouching down, and batted out with a paw towards Ripplestone's ears in defense; he remembered her showing him the ear cuff earlier. His red pelt bristled; he tried to practice how he'd need to look to a wolf of another Clan. | |

| Pinepaw smiled at Ripplestone as she spoke, managing not to fall over as he had been down on the ground. "Only if your name becomes Lungestone." He added, his brown eyes holding humor. He listened as Ripplestone spoke about catching a bird; he hadn't heard of that species before, so they must have been rare. Nodding, he sniffed at the air, finding the scents of a few birds. He didn't need to catch a raven, nor could he, and hawks were too dangerous and not what he was looking for. Walking along and out of the clearing, he scented at the air. He couldn't find any bird scents, besides those he already knew. Several more minutes later, as he came up to forest, he thought he could the scent of a bird; so he quickly followed the scent's direction, hoping it was a fantail.
Pinepaw's honey brown eyes looked around carefully. He crouched down, his red pelt blending in with some trees; he tried staying by them. He heard a sound and his ears perked forward, and he saw a bird eating some insects. Would that be the bird he was looking for? It came upon the ground, so Pinepaw moved downwind and slowly approached the bird. He knew he wouldn't be able to catch it so easily; pehaps there'd be another bird nearby if not.

| Ripplestone slowly walked behind him, her blue eyes alert watching his movements. he was a good hunter, they hadnt covered much of hunting apart from fishing. she could hunt pretty well for an ex riverclan wolf. but she still prefered to fish, now that she was out of riverclan she could relax and enjoy the water more. she waited for him to continue again. | |

| Pinepaw watched the bird, not thinking about blinking in case of the bird flying away. For a wolf who was full WindClan, he knew a lot more about fishing than hunting. He hoped catching birds would be like catching fish. The red apprentice managed to step out of the way of a twig, only to end up steping on some ferns; the slight movement caused the bird to notice him and fly away. He snorted, though blinked as the bird landed in a nearby tree. Pinepaw stayed where he was for a few moments, before approaching the tree and laying down near a bush. He'd wait until that bird came down for more insects, and run after it if it chose to go to another tree. Ripplestone said that fantails were rare; as it was only near to being newleaf, how certain could he be that he'd find another? He felt as if it had been moons before the fantail finally decided to come back down to search for its prey, unknown to the fact it was about to become prey instead.
Pinepaw, more carefully this time, tried to remember his fishing techniques. He couldn't wait at the shore, but he'd be sure to make sure his shadow couldn't be seen. He moved downwind, slowly going over to the bird. He crouched down, and swiftly he sprang. He landed on one of the bird's wings, but it got free and flew off, staying low to the ground. Pinepaw used his speed to help him, and stormed in the bird's direction. He leaped once more, finally landing on the bird with satisfaction.

| Ripplestone walked over and nodded, she spread out the birds tail showing the apprentice how its tail turned into a kind of fan she said "well done Pinepaw, you may eat your catch". she smiled proudly, she was proud of her first apprentice. she flicked her tail and gave a little yawn. | |

| Pinepaw glanced at and smiled at Ripplestone, seeing how the bird's tail did seem like a fan. "Thank you, Ripplestone. You can have some also, as I wouldn't have caught the bird without you showing me techniques for hunting." He said, taking a few bites out of the bird. | |
