Shadowlight was surprised when Firestar gave Rockpaw to her. But she knew that he was a good dog and had helped the clan even when he wasnt apart of it at the time. she waited patiently for him to get here. she knew that he was going to be a hard working apprentice.

Rockypaw trotted over towards his new mentor. He was looking forward to training, and it felt nice to be an actual part of the Clan. However little he knew about the Clans, he knew he'd learn what he'd need to by training. "What would you like to work on first?" He asked as he padded over to Shadowlight.

Shadowlight laughed. "im suppose to be asking you that, your the apprentice." "how about we start with hunting." "i want you to sniff the air and tell me what prey you find." Shadowlight felt a little lost but was trying to remember how her mentor taught her.

Rockypaw nodded at what Shadowlight said. "I'm just excited to finally be an apprentice." He said in response to his mentor's first sentence with a smile. He nodded next, sniffing at the air. He could smell the scent of squirrel, and something which he wasn't really sure but thought it was a mouse. A feathery scent was next; he soon knew what he had scented. "I can scent a squirrel, a mouse, and birds!" He said; he especially liked birds, though hadn't been able to catch one despite all the times he'd tried.

Shadowlight smiled at Rockypaw. "very good, now im going to show you a technique for catching birds." "you want to crouch low and carefully sneak up on it, be mindful of leaves or twigs, and make sure you are downwind from it and keep your breathing low and then when you almost to it i want you to leap at it." Shadowlight demonstrated this for him using a stick as the bird. "now i want you to practice that and then you will do it for real, ok."

Rockypaw looked over at Shadowlight, nodding. When Shadowlight had finished speaking, he slowly crouched down, padding towards the stick. He made sure there weren't and leaves or twigs nearby, and breathed slightly; he wasn't sure what it meant to be downwind of something, though; he'd ask his mentor about that. As soon as he was close to the stick, he crouched further, and leaped. His long fur got caught on some brambles he hadn't seen before, though, causing him to stumble and land on the ground, the stick nearby his nose. "Sorry I didn't catch it, Shadowlight." The dog said as he managed to get the brambles off his fur, shaking it out.
