Stoatpaw training w/ Magmafeather

Pups may not wander in. Anyone else can though.

This is currently being used for Stoatpaw's training. Silverpaw/heart was a former apprentice of mine.

To apprentices: Note that if you don't come on for 72 hours, you will lose 2 points in each skill that you haven't mastered yet. Mastering means having a 60/60 value in that skill.

Skill Point Rubric:
Hunting Large Animals : 14 for hit, 8 for miss (0/60)

Hunting Medium-Sized Animals : 9 for hit, 5 for miss (55/60)

Hunting Small Animals : 4 for hit, 2 for miss (4/60)

Fishing : 4 for hit, 2 for miss (0/60)

Finding Prey : 4 for large, 8 for medium, 12 for small, 6 for fish (20/60)

Finding Herbs : 5 per successful find (0/60)

Scouting for Predators : 8 for successful scouting w/out injury, 5 for successful w/ minor injury, 2 for successful w/ major injury (0/60)

Offensive Fighting : 5 for Successful hit, 2 for unsuccessful hit. (54/60)

Defensive Fighting : 7 for Successful block, 3 for unsuccessful block. (60/60)

"Great!" said Magmafeather. "You're really a natural at hunting, so we'll go on to something else. I'm really pleased with you. So, would you like to try herb finding, predator scouting, or fighting?"

"Really, thanks!" She said with a bright and cheerful bark. "Predator scouting sounds good!" She said waiting for her task to be given.

"Okay. Just walk around until you scent a predator and then follow it - the less it notices you/injures you, the better. If it goes towards the camp, you'll need to chase it away. Whenever you're ready."

She nodded and began taking in every inch of the land she could see. A red a white tail caught her eye in distant bushes. She squinted her eyes and slowly slipped around trees and under brush. To find a fox almost the size of her it gave out a hiss. She growled lunged blowing it sideways she lifted her paw and waited for it to run. It snapped at her but she luckily only got some fur snagged. She watched as it fled then gaining on it on its heels. Until the fox was for sure out of her sight. Then began taking deep relaxing breaths still having her eye on watch.

Magmafeather watched Silverpaw as she chased off the predator. However, he did not praise her just yet, just in case the predator returned.

She could hear the rustle of a bush nearby. Popping out came two more foxes they seemed angry. Fur bristling they bared their teeth and stared her down. Barking giving them a warning before dashing between them and rear kicking them. Snapping around one flew over her but she raked a claw down its stomache. Landing its squealed and raced off blood pouring from its fresh wound. The other snarled and nipped at her paws and landed a claw mark on her chest. Wrinkling her nose she bit its ear and ripped the tip off. Also sliding a claw across its muzzle leaving it shocked. Giving one last snarl it ran off after the other leaving drizzles of blood behind.

Magmafeather almost started praising Silverpaw, but then stopped himself. His nose was telling him that the predators surely weren't gone yet. But still, he went over to Silverpaw, and said "I think this is a rampage of some sort. We may have to alert the clan, but regardless, we must fight together, this is no longer a threat you can face alone."

She could feel the eyes around them. Wailing as a claw grazed at her heels and whipped around. "Magmafeather!" She whimpered as the three fox began circling her she quivered but was tense and ready. "Go get help now!!" Beginning to sweep the foxes from balance earning small returning scratches. Grasping a fluffy tail and dragging it flinging into a tree only two feet away. Smirking she growled at the other two which seemed just a bit older and more skilled.

Smiling a bit as her leader joined her. Still dyeing the foxes one lunged jaws parted she clawed the inside of the red tunnel. Slicing the pink tongue it squealed and blood dripping crazily everywhere. Blurring its vision by batting a paw over its eyes and it fell to its side. She stood on its fiery pelt and sunk the claws deeply into the heaving body. Ending the life slowly she stood over the body muzzle and claws stained a deep crimson.

Magmafeather launched himself onto a fox, writhing and clawing at it. He allowed his mindless side to take over as he bit and clawed the fox, and even though the fox tried to fight back, it was unsuccessful. Magmafeather soon made short work of the fox, and it lay dead on the ground. Magmafeather then allowed his senses to return for the moment as he temproarily ceased fighting.

Silverpaw quickly shook her head and began scenting a strong scent of foxes. Then being side sweaped into a bramble bush she moaned. Then quickly hopping to her paws feeling a bit dizzy she leaped at the fox sinking a claw deep into its shoulder. It let out a hiss and nipped my leg but I luckily hobbled backwards. Growling she charged letting her teeth sink through the blazing thick fur. Grappling it and shaking the scruff it yelped flipping around. Letting it take one last jump before slamming her claws into the side of its head. It quickly collasped on top of her, crawling out and letting out an exhausted groan. Dust now coating you and entering the fresh wounds.

Magmafeather saw another fox. Launching onto it, he tried to bite its neck, but it swatted him off and he hit the ground hard. He launched onto it again, and this time he managed to successfully bite its neck. He bit down hard, and the fox died instantly.

Magmafeather looked around and smelled, but the foxes were gone, and his senses and feelings told him more would not come. Still, he decided to wait a bit, just to be sure.

Foxes faded away the scent of blood filled her nostrils. Rubbing her paw over her muzzle and groaning in pain. Her vision blurry although she could control her thoughts and actions. Licking her nose wiping it clear of the fox blood and her own. Leaning against a tree resting her tired muscles slowly feeling her paws slip under her. 'My first real fight' she smiled and thought to herself but still locked with pain.

(Silverpaw has now met the final training requirements of 45/60 in two skills, and 60/60 in a third. Therefore her training is complete, and this thread is rendered useless and will no longer be monitored.)

Magmafeather entered the training hollow and waited for Stoatpaw to arrive. He hoped that Stoatpaw would be as good of an apprentice as Silverheart had been.

"Indeed." said Magmafeather "First thing you need to know is that stumbling will only harm you in the long run." He laughed a bit before continuing. "Anyways, what would you like to learn first? Hunting, Herb-Gathering, Predator Scouting, or Fighting?"

"All right" said Magmafeather. "We'll start with fighting." He paused briefly before continuing. "The most important aspect of fighting is strategy." He began. "The idea is to make sure your opponent doesn't know what you're about to do until it's too late. Mind-Reading is the most important aspect of defensive fighting, and with offensive fighting, the idea is to trick the opponent - for the opponent will always be wanting to dodge your move, and then counterattack while you're stuck in the world of surprise. To demonstrate, let's see what tricks you already have in you. Attempt to attack me with your claws sheathed. Now."

As Stoatpaw leaped into the air, Magmafeather moved over to one side. As Stoatpaw reached the ground, Magmafeather turned around and prepared to pounce on his apprentice.

Magmafeather took advantage of the apprentice's fall and pounced on top of him, holding him down firmly.
