Shadowpaw training w/ Direstar

Greetings all wolves, pups may not intrude on this training unless they want a severe talking to. anyone else is free to join in and spice up our rp. this rp will probbaly roam all over sunclans new territory from the stunted forest to the swift river. the statistic idea belongs to magmafeather i do not own it. now Shadowpaw here are your stats are you ready to take the plunge?

Direstar padded up to the sandy slope and sat down, shifting his paws a little grumpily the red eyed leader stared at the sand on the ground. it would be good to train shadowpaw on these slopes, most wolves wouldnt be used to it and should be awkward on the territory. that would give sunclan the edge the leader decided. his thoughts turned to the river.. hmm they would need the exriver clan wolves to show them how to fish, perhaps stoatpaw. shaking his head the leader came back to the present and perked his ears listening for the sound of any apprentice pawsteps.

Shadowpaw nodded and smiled at Direstar's praise. He heard what's next. "If we're hunting deer, then should we check near the river? The deer might need a drank and would have gone there." He said matter-of-factually as he looked forward.

Direstar nodded and said "you can scout and find the prey, then i belive you are ready to try and take down a deer by yourself" the large leader stood and began padding towards the river. his tail trailed along behind him he hummed a little ditty to himself as he remembered his puphood in windclan. now his old leader was against him. his eyes narrowed slightly, if it came to it he knew that sunclann would crush windclan.

Shadowpaw's eyes were wide with fear. Taking it down by himself? Direstar had much faith in him then, he knew that a full grown wolf had problems taking a deer down. So why him? A half-grown apprentice.

Direstar flicked his ears and lay down in some tall grass waiting for the apprentice to make his move, battling the deer would teach him battle moves almost as good as a real battle. The moves would take some refining but Direstar knew that shadowpaw could deal with it. the young apprentice reminded him of himself, quick to learn and a short temper for fools.

Shadowpaw went forward and scented for deer. His mouth open to scent around. He found one near Stunted forest and the river. He narrowed his eyes and when he was ready, he leapt on it. Landing on it's back, but before he had time to bite, it bucked him off and he landed in the river. He couldn't swim, but it was shallow waters. He managed to get out and went to slide under the deer. In doing so he tried to slash at the deer's exposed belly. The blood gushed out, it made him crazy. He could do this. He leapt on the deer again, the loss of blood weakening it he had a death grip on it as he bit into it's neck and snapped it's windpipe, he fell to the ground and the dead deer landed on top of him.

Direstar padded up and nodded "well done shadowpaw i knew you could do it" he flicked his ears and lifted the deer off his apprentice strugglin a little in the water. he dragged the deer up to the bank and sat panting a little "now tell me what you learnt from that exersise"

Shadowpaw was relieved when the weight was lifted. Shadowpaw looked at his mentor. "I need to weaken larger prey and adjust my moves that I've learned to do so." He said, that's what he had gotten out of it. He sighed as he remembered that Oakpaw was angry at him.

Direstar nodded with approval "good work, you can also leap up and rake your claws against their sides, or if you wanted you could use the forward swipe on them" he demonstrated a powerfull swipe down then grinned "or do a sneaky trick and judge your opponents distance and" he kicked out powerfully claws glinting dully in the mountain air.

Shadowpaw nodded, scenting for more prey. but he paused, he wanted to work a bit more on Offensive fighting, defensive fighting and tracking prey, to make it so he could work his best on the rest. "Direstar, can we do offensive and defensive fighting, and work more on tracking prey in different areas?" He asked kindly and curiously.

Direstar nodded and said "lets try tracking prey in a marshy part of the stunted forest" he turned and leapt off his toughened pads thumping the earth lightly, blood red eyes glitterin with amusement and happiness.

(I was thinking get those three up to 30 then start to work on more)

Shadowpaw followed, interest and wonder in his eyes. StarClan had blessed him with such an amazing and understanding mentor. He could really connect with Direstar. Everything from why they left they're clans, to what they strive to do. It was like they had one same mind into two different bodies.

Direstar stopped at a place where the marsh was thick and there was mist, his eyes twinkled with mischeif. he wondered if shadowpaw would be able to scent the faint prey scents that wafted through the air with amazing evasiveness.

Shadowpaw arrived at the marsh. This was too easy, he had been a ShadowClan wolf before this. He breathed in deeply. "There is a faint scent of frog, many frogs. But there is also a small scent of bear, several days old. One last one, I think it's snake but I'm not sure." He stated as he scented them. He breathed in more to get more scnets.

Direstar nodded his eyes glittering with approval "i can see that your time in shadowclan was not ill spent young apprentice" his blood red eyes glittered then he said "try smacking your paw into my head. or running at me and grabbing hold of my leg" he grinned "try to be inpradictable in battle it will keep your opponent guessing"

Shadowpaw laughed a bit at his task. "The whole reason we never felt welcomed was because we caused a fight with ThunderClan. More of a small, diplomatic dispute. but we use to go to the marshes and hunt all the time." He said proudly as he ran around Direstar, trying to confuse him, playing like a pup and batting at Direstar, once a paw, then the head. Then the back leg, then maybe the tail, then the back.

a little confused by the apprentices speed and the taps he felt all over him direstar moved and leapt out of the circle of apprentice. turning he landed on his paws and watched his apprentice with wary eyes. with a leap he brought down a paw aiming for his chest.

Shadowpaw smiled as he managed to distract and confuse his mentor. But a scent came over him that made his pause with fear. "Direstar, I smell fox, very recent." He said in sudden attention.

Direstars ears flattened a little bit "your shadowclan nose is excellent shadowpaw, lead the way to it and then we will either kill it or drive it off!" his blood red eyes glittered with anger. he hated foxes, he belived that they had killed his litter mates long ago.

Shadowpaw smiled and scented, his eyes narrowed as he led Direstar deeper into the marsh. There was a fallen log, and in the log, a red fox. The fox was using the fallen log like a den he assumed. He looked to Direstar, he'd never seen a fox before and had no idea what to do.

Direstar said softly "attack it like you would another wolf" his eyes glittered with fury yet he held himself back and let shadowpaw decide what he should do. thinking for himself was somethin that direstar valued deeply. he also wanted to see how shadow would react.

Shadowpaw nodded and leapt at it, but instead of sliding under it like he would. He ran aroud it, using the same strategy. Wacking at it in random areas. He looked around snarled and confused. But it eventually figured it out and sent a bite the apprentices way. He went and used his back claws to push up and avoid the bite. He also managed to land on the foxes back and he sunk his teeth into it.

Direstar watched with ease then flicked his ears hearin sounds in the back of the den he leapt up and growled "its a vixen and it has kits!" he snarled at the fox then turned and said to Shadowpaw "we need to convince her to take her kits out of our territory"

Shadowpaw looked at Direstar like he was crazy, this gave the vixen the time to throw him off and huddle around her kits protectively. Shadowpaw managed to skid on the ground, but land on his feet, though they were twisted slightly now. His eyes filled with anger. "How in the name of Starclan are we suppose to do that? Grab her kits and run off the territory?" He said sarcastically.

flicking his ears direstar gently pushed shadowpaw out of the way and began snapping at the vixens heels, he began herding her in a way that he had seen sheepdogs do on the two leg farm back in windclan territory. working at it slowly and cautiously he managed to scare the vixen off their territory. twitching his tail he said "never harm an animals pups Shadowpaw, think of how you would like it if they did it to our pups" his blood red eyes glittered with wisdom
