Padding through the trees,she let her fur flow in the wind. She faced her apprentice,then sat down. "Where shall we begin?" She flicked her tail. A grin on her face.

Frostpaw smiled and nodded. "Can we work on hunting first please Hawkpool?" She asked calmly, her eyes full of excitement that she could not hide. She always had wanted to learn how to hunt and now she could. Her tail wagged slightly as she stood up.

She nodded. She then stood up and flicked her tail. "Ok follow me,i want to see if you can smell anything." She stopped and sat down in the brush. "Ok,take a deep breath. What do you smell?"

Frostpaw breathed in slowly, the many scents of the forest floor hit the roof of her mouth. She closed her eyes. "There is a vole and 2 mice nearby." She said, she breathed in more. "Also there is a deer I think." She said as she observed more.

She nodded. "Good,now lets see if you can catch one." She crouched. "Ok,watch me carefully." She slowly stalked forward. Keeping her tail down. She then pounced and pinned down an imaginary mouse. She then stepped back and sat down. "Ok,you try."

Frostpaw nodded and watched it carefully. She scented around, and she stalked. Her tail hovering as to not drag across the ground and her ears slid back. She leapt and pretended to pounce on an imaginary mouse.

She nodded with a smile. "Nice job! Now lets try on the real thing." She lept off. Flicking her tail around signaling her apprentice to follow her. She then slowed to a walk. She then scented the air. She then glanced around. She slowly stalked the prey. She then lept at it,and bit its neck. Hearing a dieing squeal,she set it down and then glanced at her apprentice. "Mouse,now lets see if you can do it." She swished her tail patiently.

Frostpaw scented the air again, this time she scented mouse and she pin pointed it's location. She stalked it carefully, her tail hovering, but at one point dragging across the ground. She leapt at it and it barely escaped her paws. She sighed. "I'm sorry, I dragged my tail, can I try again?" She asked as she realized that her tail dragged in the end.

She nodded. "It's a little hard to keep your balance without your tail. It does take a bit of practice." She glanced around. "Go ahead and try again."

Frostpaw nodded at Hawkpool, she scented once more and caught a whiff of vole. She crouched down, preparing to leap, she let her tail hover and she landed on it. A thud of impact sounded out. She bit the creatures neck and carried it back to Hawkpool.

The distance. She twitched her ears. "Follow me." She swished her tail in signal. She slowly padded towards a large clearing. She noticed a herd of deer. She glanced at her apprentice. "So whats the plan. Lets see if you can be part of a hunting patrol."

Frostpaw trotted after her mentor and the deputy. "One of us should distract it, perhaps the other should focus on hunting it. Or one of us chases then the other and we rotate and wear it out, then we could swiftly kill it." She suggested to her mentor.

She grinned. "Well,your leader of this hunting patrol. What do you suppose we do." She wanted to challenge the wolf's intelligence.

Frostpaw thought, what should they do other then be there and hunt? "Alright, you distract it, then while it is occupied, I will go in for a kill." She told her mentor, feeling immense powers as a patrol leader. She wanted to lead more often.

She blinked. She could have used the element of surprise. Since she already had that advantage. She blinked and nodded. She then took off towards the herd. She spotted an older limping bull,and launched herself towards it. She separated it from the heard and cornered it by a rock outcropping. She growled. It lowered its antlers. She blinked,not flinching.

Frostpaw took the distraction that Hawkpool provided to leap at it's back. She sunk her claws into between the shoulder blades. It was more attentive to Hawkpool, but she knew that to soon change. She went to sink her teeth into the bull's neck, to snap it.

She too leapt at the beast. She took hold of its legs. She bit deeply into it and felt bone. She tasted the salty tang off blood.

Frostpaw went and took the kill. She snapped it's neck with her powerful teeth and jaws. It started to fall and Frostpaw leapt off of it. She smiled at Hawkpool. "That was fun!"

Releasing her grip on the deer,she licked her bloodied muzzle. "Yes,Hunting can be a hobby." She glanced around. "Lets keep hunting. What do you want to catch?"

Hawk glanced at Frostpaw. She flicked deer tail and blinked her orange eyes. "Come on,what do you want to hunt?" Hawk watched her carefully.
