~~~~~~~~ Rainheart trotted through SunClan's territory, easily finding her way past rocks and trees as she headed towards where she wanted to train her apprentice. Slowing to a stop, Rainheart entered the sandy slope; her first mentor, Ebonyfur, had brought her there when she was an apprentice. The grayish-tan warrior looked up at the sky, noticing the few clouds on a sunny Greenleaf day; it would be a nice day to train. Sitting down, Rainheart thought about all she had learned from both Ebonyfur and Gentleheart; she would try to teach Silverpaw what she knew. Rainheart let out a slight howl for Silverpaw to hear that their training would begin, and waited for him to arrive.
| Silverpaw skittered up, his mouth open as he panted, his muscles were sore from all of the scrambling about the large mountain. He of course was used to mountains and the terrain but not all of it at once. The valiant pup blinked round shining brown eyes and said respectfully "Rainheart i already know how to hunt and fight what else is there to learn?" | |
| Rainheart looked up as Silverpaw trotted over. She nodded as he asked if they could work on other skills. "We could try fishing or scouting for predators, or we could try finding prey or herbs; I don't really know much about medicine, though I do know a slight bit about it." Rainheart replied in her friendly tone. She was happy to get to mentor an apprentice, and she would be fine with what Silverpaw wanted to learn. | |
| His triangular listening devices perked up at the idea of learning a new skill "i like the sound of fishing!" he seemed excited to learn something new and he was. He was also slightly shy around his mentor and he made sure to dip his head to her in respect, he deeply admired wolves and dogs who showed courage and strength. The dog with a heart of justice wagged his tail and wondered if weedpaw would join them. | |
| Rainheart nodded as Silverpaw said they could try fishing. Silverpaw seemed to be a nice apprentice, respectful and eager to learn. "We can go to the river then, I'll show you the way there." Rainheart said with her usual smile, glancing back to see if Silverpaw was coming as she padded over towards the river. After some minutes Rainheart slowed down her pace, the river coming into view. The young warrior sat down nearby the shore as she looked back for Silverpaw. | |
| The silver akita soon turned up his tail in its usual close knit curl over his back. He smiled politley walking slowly up to the water. His short sharp claws clacked against the stones and he stood there staring into the water with wide brown eyes. His tail wagged a little showing his excitement | |
| Rainheart noticed Silverpaw soon arrive to the river, and the warrior's amber gaze went back to the water. "Alright, when fishing be sure not to let your shadow fall over the water. Fish are quick, but it's still possible to catch them if you're prepared for one suddenly appearing. You can try either catching the fish in your jaws, or with your paws; if the latter you could either pin the fish down or try to throw it to the shore, where it's less likely to get away." Rainheart said, looking towards the river. She crouched down, careful not to let her shadow fall over the water as she paitently waited for a fish. She noticed some silver flashes, though those fish were too far away for her to accurately catch them. The next fish to swim by was larger, and Rainheart sprang forward just before it swam by them, managing to catch the fish in her jaws. She bit down, and the fish went limp; Rainheart padded back towards the shore, setting down the fish before nodding at Silverpaw to tell him he could try fishing. | |
| Silverpaw nodded attentivley and crouched down chocolate brown eyes staring into the swift cold waters. His black nose twitched and he waited until a large black fish thing swum up he swung a paw at it and yelped as his claws slid off its slippery flesh | |
| Rainheart glanced at Silverpaw, watching as he tried to catch a fish with his paws though instead had yelped. "I forgot to mention that fish can be slippery; sorry about that." Rainheart said, her amber eyes looking back at the river. "You did well this time, try again whenever you're ready." Rainheart added. | |
| He nodded and with a determined look on his face he crouched again, he stared into the cold mountain water and waited. A large salmon eventually slid past in the water, his tail let out a little waggle and he struck, smacking his paw into the side of the salmon it collided with the river bank. Leaping into the water he picked it up in his jaws, he crunched down his teeth destroying its brain. He returned to his mentor and dropped the fish infront of her "how did i do rainheart?" he tilted his head brown eyes interested | |
| Rainheart watched as she noticed a salmon swimming in the water, glancing back at Silverpaw to see if he had noticed it. The apprentice had managed to catch hold of the fish, and soon was holding his catch in his jaws. Rainheart nodded as Silverpaw placed the fish in front of her, looking at the apprentice. "You did well, Silverpaw; you managed to catch a fish on your second try in training! Would you like to continue in fishing?" The young warrior asked. | |
| He nodded his jaws and chest soaked with cold water from the river "yeah i like learning new stuff" he tilted his head to the side and grinned wide as he always did when he was happy. His curly tail wagged as he sat down. brown eyes opened and he asked "how many techniques are there for fishing?" his wet fur clumped together a little | |
| Rainheart nodded as Silverpaw had responded, listening as he asked a question about fishing techniques. "Hmm... there are several different techniques for fishing, I can show you some more. Different wolves have developed their own styles of fishing; perhaps you could find one that works best for you." The gray-tan wolf said, looking over at the river. "For example, one could try hiding nearby some rocks on the shore of the river, as fish sometimes go there. You could take a fish by surprise, as the rocks could cover your shadow or reflection. It's also possible to fish while in the river," Rainheart said, getting up to her paws and padding over into the shallows of the water before continuing, "all you would have to do is wait for a fish to come nearby you, and either catch the fish with your jaws, or paws if you'd want a bit of a challenge." Rainheart added, shaking out her pelt and walking back out of the river. "You can try any fishing technique you'd like." The warrior said, nodding towards the river for Silverpaw to try fishing once more. | |
| He nodded and waded into the water, he stood still his round brown eyes narrowed with determination. He watched as several silver shapes swam past however he didn't move just yet waiting for a good time. His tail shivered a little as a fish wound its way obliviously through his legs, as it swum through his front legs he shoved his face in the water, blowing bubbles out of his nose he held his breath while he let his jaws grab around the silver fish. | |
| Rainheart looked over towards the river as she noticed Silverpaw holding a silver fish, and she nodded to the apprentice. "Good work; you're good at fishing, it can be a valuable skill when all of the forest prey is hiding, such as on a warm Greenleaf day." Rainheart said in her usual kind tone. "Did you want to keep fishing, or work on a different skill?" The grayish-tan wolf asked next. | |
| Silverpaw or gin as he still privatley called himself barked "ill continue fishing if its ok!" he flipped the fish onto the bank and clambered over to a bank where the river cut into the earth. He crouched down his curly tail straightened out for balance. | |
| Rainheart nodded upon hearing Silverpaw's response. "Alright Silverpaw; let's see how many fish you can catch before we work on something else." Rainheart replied, glancing over in Silverpaw's direction as the apprentice padded over to a nearby bank. Rainheart was glad that Silverpaw was good at fishing; fishing was a hard skill that could sometimes take a while to learn. | |
| Silverpaw nodded his eyes glittering with a strong determination, his round brown eyes were hard as he waited, his paw slipped into the water and almost gracefully a fish was flipped up onto the bank. However he forgot to kill it with a sure bite to the head and his face fell as it flipped and flopped back into the water swimming away fast. | |
| The grayish-tan warrior watched as her apprentice had scooped a fish out of the river, with the fish landing on the bank. Rainheart nodded and was about to congratulate Silverpaw before the fish had flopped back into the water, swimming downstream. "That's alright, Silverpaw; you did manage to get the fish out of the water, which is usually the hardest to do. You should be able to catch a fish once more if you try again." Rainheart said encouragingly. | |
