Great Sycamore

Cloudpaw trotted after Moonshadow, slowing down as she neared her mentor. "I'm here!" Cloudpaw said, looking up in surprise at the large tree. "The Great Sycamore is so huge!" The silver apprentice added, looking back at Moonshadow.

Cloudpaw glanced over at Moonshadow, nodding excitedly as she said they were going to hunt. "Okay." The apprentice said as her mentor lifted up her muzzle. Cloupaw breathed in deeply, trying to determine if she could scent any prey. "I think I scent some squirrels, and a bird." Cloudpaw responded, glancing over at the other wolf.

Cloudpaw nodded to Moonshadow in response to her question, watching as her mentor showed her how to move up to prey. "I can try that." Cloudpaw said, crouching down. She slowly placed each paw in front of the other, though not very quietly; her tail also could probably be seen by any nearby prey. "Is this how you hunt?" Cloudpaw asked, her mint green eyes looking back at the warrior.

Cloudpaw smiled at her mentor's first words, nodding at what she said next. The apprentice lowered her tail, making sure that it wasn't on the ground or up high in the air. "Is this better?" She asked, looking back over at her mentor. Cloudpaw wondered if it were easy to hunt; she wasn't sure how to approach the prey, and hoped Moonshadow could show her how to.

Onyxflare padded around the tree and jumped slightly when Moonshadow appeared on the other side. The white warrior nodded a greeting and sniffed along some bushes, walking softly before backing away and crouched, waving his tail at the mentor and pupil to be quiet. Onyx stalked slowly, tail held straight and still, fiery amber eyes staring at a bush. The warriors body blurred as he shot him self after a squirrel which ran from the bush and to a tree, Onyxflare sprung at the tree as it climbed up, catching the small red rodent by the back and broke it's spine.

Cloudpaw nodded at what Moonshadow had said at first, and thought about whether she'd want to continue with the technique or work on another part of hunting. She didn't reply to Moonshadow, however, as she noticed Onyxflare come and wave to them to be quiet. Cloudpaw looked up as Onyxflare had leaped towards the tree, with a slight frown; she hoped she wouldn't have to hunt prey by jumping or climbing trees. The silver apprentice didn't really like the thought of being off the ground. Cloudpaw looked over at Onyxflare as he spoke to Moonshadow, glancing at her mentor as she heard Moonshadow's reply. Cloudpaw looked back at Onyxflare. "I wouldn't mind either way; if you'd like to give me some tips, you could." She said; Cloudpaw liked learning, and any knowledge she had could better help her when hunting.

Cloudpaw nodded as she listed to Onyxflare, watching as he'd showed her how to sneak up on prey before he had sat down. "Okay." The silver apprentice said in response, nodding as she heard Moonshadow. Cloudpaw glanced around the clearing before rolling slightly in the grass, managing not to shake out her pelt, as she tried to use Onyxflare's advice about blending in. Cloudpaw crouched down, keeping her tail low to the ground although making sure it wasn't touching the grass as she slowly moved forward, placing each of her front paws gently on the ground. "Is that better?" She said as she looked at the two other wolves.

Cloudpaw looked over at her mentor as she heard her speak, and nodded. She nodded once more at her mentor's next words. Glancing at Onyxflare, she added; "Thanks for helping me." She looked around the forest before finding something else to ask. "What should I work on next?" The pale silver apprentice asked as she glanced at Moonshadow. She was happy that she had finally bettered her hunting crouch, and wondered if she would be good at hunting real prey.

Cloudpaw glanced at Moonshadow, before nodding at Onyxflare and turning back to her mentor. She nodded once more at what she said, trotting after the warrior. She wondered where they would be going; she was glad that she would get to see around the territory. Cloudpaw, noticing she was a bit behind, ran after the other warrior.
