Nightfeather briskly trotted through the woodlands to the Burnt Sycamore. The air was cool, or at least it was for one who had not fully grown a winter coat, and the sun was still rising. This was the time she and Silentpaw had agreed to begin training. Reaching the tree, she looked around to see if he was already there. He was not. The deputy didn't mind, though. He could hardly be expected to run through ShadowClan territory so early in the morning and be ready for training when she herself got there. Besides, it gave her some time to relax before the training started.

Silentpaw realised what Nightfeather was doing and pinned her down harder. He did a gentle swipe at Nightfeathers face so that she wouldn't get too much hurt and then he reared up and brought his weight down. He jumped off and waited for Nightfeather commented on his little presentation.

"Hmm. With the rearing up part, i missed. What is the best position to be in?" He asked curiously. He had done well but the end messed up. Again he sat down trying to catch his energy again from rearing up and puting as much weight as possible on the ground which should have been Nightfeather.

"The best position for that is directly above your opponent, but if you want a higher chance of hitting them, aim a little to the side. You might still miss - you can't really predict what way they'll roll to - but your chances will be a little higher."

"Thank you for answering." He replied. "I was wondering if i could try killing small animals again for hunting?" He asked hopefully that he could improve on his hunting. The better he was the quicker he will become a warrior. He shivered as the air started to get a bit more chilly.

Silentpaw sniffed the air and caught a few scents. He saw a rabbit cleaning itself by a bush and slowly Silentpaw stalked it. He crouched down and jumped and before he knew it, it was dead. He burried it and sniffed the air for more scents.

"I think it's time to move on. We've done some offensive fighting, how about defensive? If you can't defend yourself, you'll be hopeless in battle."

Silentpaw nodded. "So basically its just trying to defend yourself?" He questioned. His muzzle had a bit of blood on it from the kill so he tryed to lick as much as he could. He waited for Nightfeather to reply.

"Defensive fighting tend to rely more on quick reaction times than strength, and some defensive moves work much better against certain offensive ones. For example, if someone is trying to pin you, roll away,"

Silentpaw tilted his head. "So are you going to try and attack me and i have to defend myself?" He asked. He wasn't sure if he was going to be good at this as it was rather confusing for him as when was it to use all the moves? Was there only one specific move for an attacking move?

Silentpaw thought about what Nightfeather said and decided to take her by suprise. He ran up to her and jumped on her back. He swiped gently on her shoulder and pushed her onto the ground and snarled, he wanted for her reaction.

Nightfeather blinked in surprise at the sudden attack, and didn't really have time to react to it before her apprentice had her pinned. If it wasn't for Silentpaw keeping her on the ground and snarling at her, she'd be giving herself a silent lecture in her head about not keeping her fighting skills at top notch. The deputy growled and started to attempt to roll over, or at least loosen the apprentice's grip on her. He had the upper paw when it came to offensive fighting, though, as he had a much more muscular build than Nightfeather, who was built more for stamina than speed or strength.

Silentpaw thought for a different tactic. Suddenly he came up with a quick idea. Silentpaw pinned Nightfeather down with all his strength but then pretended to look... dizzy. Slowly he acted a bit, and fainted. What he was going to do was trick Nightfeather into thinking he had passed out. Then when Nightfeather looked closer to ask him if he was okay jump up and suprise her again, push her to the ground and nip her back pretending it was the weak spot, the spot if you bit it could kill your oppenent. Silentpaw collapsed and gasped.

As soon as Silentpaw heard Nightfeathers voice he sprang up and held onto her back. He pretened to bite at what he called the 'death part' and announced, "Boom your dead." He held his head in the air triumphantly and sat down.

Silentpaws grin got wider at Nightfeathers word. "Really?" He said, absoulutley stunned. "Yes please!" He squealed. This was the moment he had been waiting for since he was announced an apprentice. Now he could become a warrior and have his own apprentice. He sprint around in circles and jumped towards a tree and sprang off it with delight.

Silentpaw stopped and sat down. "Okay." He managed to say despite the fact he was trembling with joy. He got to his paws and made his way back to camp, though he went in the direction of Riverclan camp as he smelt Shadestars scent that way.

"I'll tell him." Silentpaw assured Nightfeather. He ran towards the scent and made his way towards Riverclan camp, buzzing with excitment. He could also not wait to tell his apprentice friends. Silentpaw is also quite sure that Fangpaw has nearly finished training or HAS finished training. Silentpaw was happy that he was maybe going to graduate Apprenticehood with Fangpaw.
