~Fernshade,Thunderpaw,and Fawpaw's training~

Seeing the clearing,she sat down. She glanced around. Looking for her new apprentice. Sniffing the crisp air.

Thunderpaw walked cautiosuly into the clearing, his nose twitching with the different scents. His ears lied flat upon his head and he looked up to see Fernshade. Just a while ago, he'd been riding on her back and now, now he was growing faster than before. He sat down quietly and looked at the floor before thinking of what to say, "Good morning Fernshade. It appears to be getting warmer."

(Sorry for the late reply... so many things to do!)

She nodded. "Yes it is." Fernshade flicked her tail. She glanced around for Fawnpaw. She shrugged. "So,what do you want to work on first?" Hs e blinked her yellow eyes.

Thunderpaw shrugged softly and looked at the ground. "I don't know... it's not like I can do uch anyway." He added the last part to himself and sighed. "Want to wait for Fawn?"

(Sorry if he seems like a downer... thunder loses all self esteem)

She shook her head. Fernshade blinked. "Not much is impossible. Now come on,lets learn how to fish." Fern stood up and quickly walked over to the river. She watched the silver slivers flash by. She shot out. Sending water flying every where. She then set the fish down she licked her wet muzzle.

Thunderpaw walked up ext to his mentor and watched her his eyes large and observant. He watched her shoot forward and come out with a shining fish in her muzzle. He gulped, hoping, hoping dearly she wouldn't want him to do that. He'd slip into the river. "Uh, cool. Show me again?" His voice squeaked with nerves.

Growing,Fernshade nudged him. Then set down the fish. "There is no technique. So relax.just reach down in the water and grab the fish."
She then flicked her tail.

Thunderpaw grumbled, "No technique for you, but me.." He grudgingly sat down by the water and looked into it. The first thing he noticed was his shadow and reflection. Standing slowly he sat in a way in which the fish could not see him. If he couldn't see himself, they couldn't see him by his reflection. Silver bodies lined this way and that. Thunderpaw looked at Fernshade and gulped softly before, tentatively making his head go forward slowly. The apprentice froze and attmepted to mimic her speed as she grabbed the fish. He felt his head push through the water and felt the slow current tug at his ears. But he felt something else. There was an emptiness to his right, and he had not accounted for his missing leg. Going off balance he fell forward into the murky water, his head suddenly wedged between a rock and a limb of a low hanging tree. Sudden panic coursing through him, the young brute pulled back and fell backwards. Yet in his jaws he held a small silvery fish, not much bigger than his paws. He sighed and released it gently back into the water.

Seeing Thunderpaw fall into the water,she jumped into the water and swam forward. She hated water,bit she had learned how to swim,and to catch fish. She snorted and grabbed him by his scruff. She realized that Thunderpaw let the fish go. She rolled her eyes,and set him on land. She shook her pelt. "You ok?"

Thunderpaw sneezed slightly and looked up at her. He narrowed his eyes at her own roll of her eyes. "It was young... it will grow bigger and then we will have more to eat, no?" He allowed the water to drip from his pelt without shaking it off and looked at the warrior a slight frown on his sharp wet muzzle.

Fern sighed. "Thats true. But food is food. So of you catch a giant buck,you'
L say it was too small and let it go." She shook he head and sighed again. "Ok now try again."

Thunderpaw flattened his ears. The tiny excuse for a fish was no bigger than the width of his tail. It was so small he could have accdiently swallowed it without knowing. He growled slightly but he wasn't one to talk back. He grumbled and looked at the water again. He watched the fish go by and he just seemed to drop in every sense. He wrinkled his nose in anger, he would never get this! He was trying to figure out how to keep his balance but he couldn't think of any. He lashed his tail and just sat there, grumbling quietly to himself.

Fernshade blinked. She gripped onto his scruff. Making sure he didn't fall. "Now go,I'm holding into you." Her voice was kind blurred by the fur.

Thunderpaw grumbled a bit louder, "There won't always be someone to help me up." He tested his stability slightly, the feeling of her teeth in his scruff slightly annoying. He rolled his eyes, but instead of shooting his head forward at the sight of a fish, he used her help and flicked his back feet into the water. He felt them enter the water and felt a slippery creature upon them as he flipped slightly landing on his back. The fish landed out of water, and he looked around dazed. e blinked and shook himself off, before putting a paw on it as the blurr left his eyes.

Seeing Thunderpaw catch the fish,she blinked. She nodded. "Nice job." Fern flicked her ear. She then glanced at the water. "Ok,now try again." This time,Fern stepped back.

Thunderpaw felt her let go and gulped as she said again. He blinked and looked up at her before looking into the water.This time he tried again, differently. He lied down, leaning to the side where he was missing his leg. His eyes narrowed as he held his left leg outstretched. Stupid fish swam right under him, but he still was't going to go for the little ones. Finally a large silvery lined bosy swam right under his nose and began to speed away. Thje apprentice swiftly reached forward, seeing it as a freind he wanted to push over, he felt his paw and the fish tough before flicking his paw back and having the fish land on top and then roll off of him.

Seeing the fish flap around in the ground,she bit it,and she drew blood. It slowly stopped,as well as it's gills. Se let go and licked her muzzle. She nodded at him. "Good job. Now lets see how much more we can get." Fern flicked her tail and sat down.

Thunderpaw held out his paw and rolled his eyes, "Fine." He watched it with care, the water still rushing y. He paused and looked at the water, noticing its sudden low volume. "The water is low." He pointed out as he did the same as before. The fish landed flopping and he used his back paw to kill it swiftly.

Seeing the water flow right past the stones,Fernshade shook her head. She was distracted. She then stepped towards beside him. She gazed onto the other river-bank. She then blinked her yellow eyes,and glanced at Thunderpaw. She nudged him. "Want to keep fishing? Or do you want to do something else?"

Thunderpaw looked up at her, and shrugged. He really didn't know. Thunderpaw shrugged, "I don't know, whatever you want I guess..." He backed up from the water, three fish about as long as his muzzle on the ground.

Fern shook her head. She blinked and watched the ground carefully. She spoke,almost thinking every word over. "You need to be able to make your own choices,Thunderpaw." She blinked her yellow eyes,then she looked up and watched him.

Thunderpaw lashed his tail. What decisions could he make? Almost no one lsitened to the three legged self considered freak. He grumbled and upon the air, he caught a scent. Without mentioning it he limped forward towards it. "There's a... there's a scent... Lets... go... tracking..." He said in between sniffs and limps.

Fernshade glanced up and blinked. She blinked and quickly followed. She whispered in his ear. "Ok,so now your part of a hunting patrol. Your leading it. Now,you have to give me directions. Don't be afraid to." Fern blinked her yellow eyes and followed him by his side.

Thunderpaw barley heard as he lifted and lowered his head, looking and sniffing around. The apprentice began to walk faster and faster as the scent got stronger. He wasn't sure what it was but it smelled like a predator. It had the fresh scent of blood and it seemed young. He saw it footprints in the mud, larger than his own with sharp claws at the end. he followed curious..
