First topic message reminder :

Wet and shadowy, not many wolves come here or find it even close to being comforting. Stunted trees grow everywhere and it seems to be dark most of the year. Snakes make their home here, and the occasional herd or other hoofed animal rarely wander through. ShadowClan makes its home here, and most are comfortable and know exactly where not to step. Others may not be so lucky.

Shadowclaw blinked as the scent of the mud and mush met his nose. His nostrils flared,and he perked up his ears. He gazed across the empty land,only filled with a few trees and some bogs. He spread out his stance and narrowed his eyes. "Thrushpaw,watch your step. Use that mushy brain of yours and don't sink into the mud." He cracked his neck.

Thrushpaw padded after Shadowclaw, quickly catching the scent of mud and of the marshes. Wrinkling his nose, the apprentice tried to see what other scents he could find; he wasn't certain if he could smell frogs, and he thought he caught the scent of his sister, Dewpaw, and some of the other warriors. Hearing Shadowclaw, Thrushpaw nodded. "Okay Shadowclaw." Thrushpaw said, walking forward lightly and placing his paws out at an angle. His yellow eyes looked up to Shadowclaw as he waited for his mentor to continue.

Shadowclaw checked behind him at his apprentice. Seeing he got walking around down,he nodded. Then he started forward. "Tell me,what do you smell beside the mud and dirt?"

Thrushpaw padded after his mentor, lifting up his muzzle as he heard Shadowclaw's question. "I can scent some StormClan wolves, I think I can scent some frogs, perhaps a snake somewhere, and something else; whatever it was, it isn't here anymore though." Thrushpaw responded, his eyes glancing back at his paws as he tried not to sink into the mud. Thrushpaw wondered if this place was considered the marshes; he'd heard of it before, though hadn't actually been anywhere besides to a border.

Shadowclaw nodded. Replying with a sound as he confirmed every scent that came to his mind. "Mmhmm." He sniffed the air,and narrowed his eyes. "Dang Twoleggeds. They came here too." He snorted and stalked after the scent. He circled around trees,and glanced over at a clump of bushes. He didn't really smell Dracopaw,since Twolegged rubbed himself up against the apprentice. He barred his teeth. "Why were they here too?"

Thrushpaw looked up at his mentor upon hearing him mention Twolegs, and he wondered if that were the scent he hadn't been able to recognize. The reddish-furred apprentice padded after Shadowclaw as his mentor walked off, catching a stronger scent of Twolegs near some bushes. "I'm not sure...." Thrushpaw started, trailing off at the end of his sentence. He tried to think of what he'd heard from the Leaders' Den; he remembered hearing Lunalight mention that the Twolegs had taken one of her daughters. "Did they stop here before going to take the other apprentices?" Thrushpaw continued, glancing around to make sure the Twolegs weren't here.

Shadowclaw's ears flattened to his skull. His gold eyes wide. "Maybe..." He said through clenched teeth. He swiveled his head around as some birds flew through the trees. "Who got caught then...?" He turned back to the brush and leaned forward. Pitching his muzzle towards the ground. He opened up his maw and closed his eye. He took a deep breath. Then sighed. Dracopaw...? He turned to his apprentice. "Who do you think got caught? Might be a good time to assess your scenting skills."

Thrushpaw's yellow eyes glanced around, looking for any signs of why Twolegs had come here. Upon hearing his mentor ask him a question, the apprentice nodded, with a slight frown. So someone else was captured? He wondered to himself, padding forward and scenting the air. He could catch a slight wolf scent, but wasn't able to tell who it was. Thrushpaw sniffed at the ground nearby the bush, trying to indentify the wolf's scent. It's slightly familiar... I know this wolf.... Thrushpaw thought to himself, trying his best to figure out what wolf it was. He remembered this wolf, and another, speaking to his sister in StormClan camp; Dewpaw and he had both followed the wolves to the borders. "Is it... Dracopaw?" Thrushpaw wondered out loud, looking back towards Shadowclaw.

Shadowclaw clicked his tongue. A grin appeared on his face. "Tck! Not bad runt! Now we should go report this to Shadestar." He flicked his gray tail. "Onward apprentice." He nudged Thurshpaw forward slightly.

Thrushpaw nodded as Shadowclaw spoke to him, proud that he'd been able to figure out which other wolf had been taken. He nodded once more as Shadowclaw nudged him forward, and he trotted back off to camp, looking back to make sure his mentor was coming. Thrushpaw's yellow eyes looked around the marsh, as if expecting another wolf to somewhere get taken, before he looked back in the direction of the camp. The apprentice padded on, still confident.

Shadowclaw slowly padded after the apprentice. He faltered after he glanced back at him. Shadowclaw twisted his head so he could look at the brush again. Narrowing his eyes,almost expecting to see a Twolegged jump out and capture them. He watched the bush rustle. His eyes widened,and he barred his teeth. The wind blew his fur towards the green brush. It made a loud twitter,and some birds flew off. Shadowclaw clicked his tongue then turned to ran after his apprentice.
