Burnt Sycamore

Apprentices come to train here to practice attacking and killing prey. Many times of prey can be found here including moose, deer, elk, muskrats, snakes, lizard, and raccoons. There is a large burnt sycamore in this territory, which was struck by lightning long ago. It is a dead tree, now, but was clearly large and lush at one time.

Redpaw nodded without turning back to his mother. His red eyes narrowed in anticipation. He gave a smirk and slunk in the brush downwind of the chosen prey. He crept silently. His brown pelt blended with the trees. His claws unsheathed;shining white ivory in the sunlight.

Luna carefully moved to the other side. Her fur blended with the trees as suddenly she stopped. She lowered her body and tail as she slowly began getting near the prey. The plan was simple. The warrior was going to chase the roedeer as near as it's possible to Redpaw, then he just have to attack and everything was done. The she-wolf lifted her back paws a little as she straightened her claws. She was on few metres from the chosen pray. Suddenly she jumped and snarled at her. The rodeer was truly scared and began running as well as the others from the herd. Lunalight began chasing the roedeer and luckily she turned her way staright into Redpaw's position. When they were enough close Luna shouted "NOW RED, NOW!"

Redpaw's eyes shot up as the old deer had noticed him and leaped above. Its hooves inches from his forehead. It seemed like it was in slow motion,then sped up as it landed on the ground. He shook his head and snapped back to reality. He ran after it,turning when it did,and leaping off a tree onto it's back. He sank his claws in,his back legs hanging off. The deer have a snort and started to kick around. He swung onto the back and bit the neck. He shut his eyes not knowing what would ha open next.

Luna noticed what was happening and then just for a moment she got scared that Red might get hurt. Luckily her son was good enough to avoid this. She watched every single move of his and she truly was impressed. When he bit it's neck Luna jumped on it's back and stick her claws into it's sartorius, making the roedeer fall. The brown fae standed there and just waited for it to go limp. Redpaw's jaws were joing to finish the rest.

Redpaw felt his teeth meet flesh instead of skin. He looked down to see the ground rushing up to him. He bit down harder and tasted fresh blood. He felt the pulse of the deer weaken. Then stop as he hit the ground. He growled and released his grip. He strugled to get out from under the deer. He sighed as his dragged out his legs from under it. THe appetice sat up and tok a deep breath. "Haven't done somethig like that for a while." Redpaw blinked and licked his pelt clean of blood.

"Very good my dear." Luna said. She was really proud to watch her son hunting. He truly is very good in this. She was sure that one day he will be a great warrior. However she decided to let him rest for a few minutes and then get the roedeer in the camp. "Take a minute to rest before carring this in our camp." the brown fae added as she looked around.

Reddust gave a slight nod and sat up. A hard breeze blew at them. What? I smell Thunderclan. The brute growled.

The brown fae also sat dwn. The hard breeze made una feel good and relazed. Suddenly she caught the scent of Thunderclan. Her eyes narrowed as she looked around. The mother heard her son's growl. Lunalight got up and take a step forward. If there was a thunderclanner here, he or she was sure in big trouble. Luna looked around again as she stopped her eyes somewhere in the distance. The scent was coming from there, that's why she made few more steps forward.

Reddust snorted. "We've already got Crystalheart,why is there another?" Red narrowed his eyes. He growled. He stood up and raced to the camp. "Take back the prey before me ma!" He put on another bust of speed and headed towards the scent.

The brown fae looked around again then she got back to Redpaw. He told her to take the prey to the camp and then dashed to it himself. The warrior just gave a simple nod. Lunalight got the prey's neck in her jaws and went after her son.

~SC camp~

Dewpaw padded swiftly but also slowly behind her mentor. Skidding to a halt beside Reddust she looked at the large, burnt tree. He had asked her what she thought it was called, so she replied after thinking for a moment, "It's a sycamore... and it's burnt... so the Burnt Sycamore?" She turned smiling at her mentor. She was determined to make this wolf, this young but mean wolf, into a nicer one. Well, at least to her. Tilting her head her tail twitched a few times.

Dewpaw growled as Reddust spoke. "You scared away my mouse when you talked..." Sighing Dewpaw sat by Reddust. "Well, do you want to teach me something then?"

Thunderpaw believed he was first this time and he sat by the roots of the tree. Mistheart had ignored him the whole time and he didn't care. He was here just to be with Silkpaw. Fur bristling he growled to himself.

"G'day Silkpaw." Dewpaw said happily. Right now she didn't care that she was supposedly mad at Silkpaw. She was having lots of fun! Gesturing for Silkpaw to sit beside her she smiled.
