Firespell padded into the sandy hollow and sat down, waiting for Streakpaw. She smiled, the pup was keen to be a warrior and to prove herself to the firey deputy. The firey female's pelt glowed like fire as she shook it. Firespell smiled this was where Luna had trained her and Falconpaw. So many memories.

"Hi sis," I say glumly.

Firespell whirled around and smiled. "Hello Mossey." She noticed her sister's glum expression looked concerned. "What's the matter? Why are you sad?"

"Oh it s nothing I have had troubling dreams that's all." I say. I think to myself should I tell her or not.

Firespell's ears twitched slightly but otherwise she remained calm. Troubling dreams? she thought but decided not to pry unless Mosseypaw wanted to tell her. "Ok, then." The deputy looked at the snow falling about them. "I'm just waiting for my apprentice to turn up."

Streakpaw comes dashing into the training. "I'm here Firespell! And hello mosseypaw." Her ears twitch. "Firespell, can we start with fighting?"

Firespell stood up and walked over to Streakpaw. "Ok then, but a warrior needs to know how to fight and hunt too. But we'll start with the basic fighting moves." She smiled. "Now try swiping at my face."

"Thats easy!" Streakpaw said and swiftly swiping at her face. "How was that?" She asked.

"Good", murmured Firespell. "Maybe next time, you can pack a little more strength in your hits. A swift barrage of paws in the face can disorientate your enemy or even stun." She flicked her tail at Streakpaw. "Do that again." The firey fae's eyes glowed amber, encouraging her apprentice.

Streakpaw did it again. It was even more powerful and faster than before. "Was that better?" She asked again.

"Well done, Streakpaw!" The firey female swayed a little but remained standing. "It was much better. But remember this, a warrior does not need to kill to win his or her fights. It will help you in the future when you're a warrior." Firespell's ears pricked up and she walked backwards a bit. "Now, you can attack a warrior anywhere on his or her body but the tenderest parts are the ears, face, scruff, tail and belly. A good move is rolling under their bellies and scraping them with your claws." She suddenly ran at Streakpaw and then rolled herself under the apprentice's belly, scraping it gently before coming up on her paws. "Now you."

Streakpaw nods. She backs up a little and runs and rolls under her to scrape her belly. "Like that?" Streakpaw asks.

Firespell smiled and padded closer to Streakpaw. "Yes, that was fine. That move is good for when you're pinned down on the ground or wanting to weaken an enemy. Rolling over is also a skill to be learned." The firey deputy quickly rolled over, rolling twice before coming up on her paws. "You can dodge your opponents by doing this, wriggle out of tight situations, quite literally." Firespell grinned. "Keeping your tail in is another thing to know. Less for anything to grip." She demonstrated this.

Streakpaw completes it perfectly for her age, with a couple flaws maybe.She twitches her ears. "Like that?" The curious apprentice asked.

The firey female nodded. Good, good. A little quick but nevermind. We can praticse. "Nice tail-tucking in. Your roll-over was good and a few practises can make it even better." She came closer and looked at her apprentice with her amber eyes. "Now go and do some roll-overs now while I'm watching and the next skill will come after that." Firespell smiled to herself. Streakpaw is a good and eager-to-learn apprentice.

Streakpaw rolls around and hits a rock in the snow. She digs it out andbegins rolling again. Maybe i should make a preaent fore firespell because im almost to the time where i am leaving. I will think about it more.

Firespell beckoned Streakpaw back to her. "That was good. Right now, you're going to learn how to defend yourself. Your paws, Streakpaw, can block almost any attack." She began to circle the apprentice. "I am going to swipe at you and you are going to use your paws to block me." Suddenly the firey wolf shot out a paw.

Streakpaw listens. She swipes at her mentors paw at the attack. "Was that good?" She asks and stares at her mentor.

Firespell had hardly felt the apprentice's paw but her face was calm. "Nice. Let's do it again. Would you like to learn some hunting skills after this?" Her head was on one side, eyes looking curiously at Streakpaw. Firespell drew back her paw and suddenly swiped at her apprentice's side, not too hard.

"No." Streakpaw replied. "I'm just afraid Sun clanners will attack me when I go there. So, i want to be ready." She grabbed Firespells paw with hers, stopping it.

She released her paw from Streakpaw's grasp. "They will attack you?" she inquired. Lowering her voice, Firespell said: "Ok, I will teach you all the fighting skills I know but you've got to learn some other things as well." The firey wolf sighed and turned and walked to a tree. Beckoning with her tail to Streakpaw, Firespell leapt onto a lower branch. "I understand why you're nervous. When I went there, a SunClan apprentice jumped at my best friend and gashed her side. That was just because she was ThunderClan, and in their territory."

"Wow." Streakpaw said nevously. She hops onto a low branch. "What are we doing now?" She asked.

Firespell smiled and turned to look out across the hollow. "We can see the whole hollow from here. Scouting for predators is an important skill for a warrior because you must be able to scent dangers, be they fox or enemy wolf. Look out at the hollow. Could you tell me what do you see? Anything that's moving?"

Streakpaw nods. She looks around carfully. "I see, a fox." She says. "Is that a good find?"

Firespell sniffed the air and smiled. It was a fox. "Well done Streakpaw." Her smile turned to a frown as she watched the fox slinking through the bushes. "However we cannot have a fox disturbing us so Streakpaw, your next task is to chase that fox away from the hollow. But do not kill him. I will be watching." The firey female leapt off the branch and landed on the ground.
