Leopardpup shrugged. "Good point," she said, although she obviously wasn't certain about the idea. Can monsters get through stone?
Hearing the apprentice's next words, the small pup frowned, a dubious look on her face. "Sticky? What kind of sticky?" She made a face, and thought about what her pelt would look like if it was all sticky. Ew.

The little pup followed despite of herself, flattening her ears in apprehension. "What are you doing?" she asked, trying to catch up with the apprentice. "Are you using icky tree sap or something?" She wrinkled her nose in distaste, making small "ew" noises.

Leopardpup made a face of disgust at the sap, and pawed one of the leaves dubiously. She would have asked "do I have to?" but she knew that if she asked that, Silkpaw would just bundle her off to the nursery and there she'd sit, having nothing to do. At least helping Silkpaw, although icky, meant she could be out in the open air.
With a dramatic sigh, the pup bounded over to the tree (she never walked over to something, she always had to bound), she jumped up at the trunk. Wincing, she drew her claws over the bark, but didn't make much progress - her claws were were too soft to actually penetrate the bark. Again and again she scratched, until a very small amount of sap leaked down onto her leaf below. Leopardpup made a face, winced, and then dropped off to the ground once more, picking up her leaf and walking towards Silkpaw. "Is this alright?" she asked, with the manner of a teenager asking a superior if their homework was alright, but making it clear that if it wasn't, they were going to pull a fuss before redoing it.

Leopardpup looked sceptically at Silkpaw. "Are you sure this stuff will connect them together?" she asked, looking at the two sticks she had chosen from the small pile. She experimentally rubbed the sap from the leaf on both, before sticking them together. She tried to prise them apart, but failed. "This stuff's really strong."

Leopardpup watched as the apprentice put her sticks around the entrance of the camp, and soon she began to do the same, using a bit of her sap until it ran out, and then pinching some of Silkpaw's to glue the sticks together and mesh them around the entrance. She was so absorbed in her task - and licking her paws and claws clean - that she didn't realise Silkpaw hadn't spoken until she was watching her eagerly, going to tell her she had finished. "I've finished.....what's wrong?" She mimicked the movement, turning her head to one side quizzically.

"Twolegs have pups?" Leopardpup frowned, not having thought about baby twolegs before. It hadn't occurred to her before that twolegs would start off as babies, like she had done and like wolves did. She was so caught up with this thought, she didn't realise Silkpaw had taken something off her pelt until she held the burr aloft. "Hey! What's that?" She didn't even know what the little thing was, but it looked spiky.

As Silkpaw explained what a burr was, Leopardpup looked at the little spiky thing curiously. What the apprentice had said was true; she had not even felt the burr on her fur. She shuddered. "I had that in my fur this whole time? Eww! It must wreck so much damage on the colour!" She turned her head over her shoulder to look at her pelt, genuinely worried before turning her eyes back to Silkpaw. "So the twoleg pups are going to have a nasty surprise?"

Leopardpup blinked as she digested the information. "....Okay," she said, not too enthusiastic about using sap once more. She thought she was rid of the stuff. "So we stick them to the entrance, and then stick the burrs on top of that?" She grabbed a dollop of sap, wincing at it's oozy texture upon her paw.

"Alright," the little pup replied agreeably, which was a very rare sight indeed. She grabbed more of the sap, smoothing it over the bottom of the entrance, before sticking some of the burrs on top with her teeth. She didn't like the work, but it was better, she reminded herself, than just sitting in the nursery being bored. At least she had something to distract her mind than her greatest fear, which had the risk of becoming true - twolegs, coming and invading her simple life as a clan member.

She added another layer of sap, smoothing it over the burrs so they would stick and wouldn't come loose. "Silkpaw," she said, turning around to the apprentice after a few moments, "If the twolegs do come, will you have to fight them with your mentor?"

Leopardpup shuddered. "Do you think they'll have their thundersticks?" She stuck on another burr, and then glanced at Silkpaw before looking down. She had not seen a thunderstick, just like she'd never seen a twoleg, but she had heard about them from the warriors before, while eavesdropping. "They won't, will they?"

Leopardpup did not notice that her question hadn't been answered, and nodded contentedly. She was too absorbed to even notice the apprentice's ears fly back towards her skull. "I bet the twolegs won't even know we're here," she replied, too ignorant to know that the twolegs were more than likely to explore the whole area. She stuck another burr onto the sap. "How many burrs do we need on the bottom of the entrance?"

Silkpaw nodded to let Leopard know that she was listening as the pup spoke. She was almost done placing the burrs on to the sap when she heard Leopardpup ask a question.
"Just use whats in your burr pile." Silkpaw answered as she continued to use the last of the burrs.
