WindClan Camp

"We are the closest Clan to StarClan, spiritually and physically, and we always know our warrior ancestors are watching over us. That is what makes us strong. No matter what trials we must endure, WindClan will last forever."

WindClan Camp is the members' home. It's large and airy, with gorse bushes all around to hide it. A legend says that Windstar, the founder of WindClan, scooped out some sand to make the natural dip that the Camp is based.

There are no proper den structures, so the members sleep out in the open, under the stars. If there is bad weather, they may go into little dens made by other creatures such as badgers and foxes, though this is rare.

In the middle of the camp is Tallrock, a place where the leader will make announcements. There are dens for the elders, and there is a nursery, by the wall of gorse. There is a leader's den next to the Nursery.

I suppose I'll start~
--

Spottedstar blinked awake, letting loose a cavernous yawn. She slowly got to her feet, her head down and more yawns cracking open her jaws. She climbed out of the enlarged burrow, smacking her lips hungrily in hopes that there might be some extra freshkill left over from the previous day's hunting. Soft mist floated in the clearing, obscuring the far side despite how relatively small the camp was. Dove-gray clouds met the mist, creating a soft, downy blanket over the moor. She ran her tongue over her chapped lips, padding past the warrior's den.

It was the sound of faint pawsteps that finally induced Owlfrost out of the warriors den, where she'd lain awake amongst her Clanmates the past little while, lulled in a half-sleep by the familiar sounds of their breathing and movement. Picking her way carefully through the sleeping wolves, the young she-wolf slipped quietly out of the enlarged dugout, into the surface world. It was still early and the dampness that had been kept at bay by the heat of the wolves around her now struck Owlfrost full force as she shook the last vestiges of sleep from her pelt. The sun was only just beginning to stretch across the far horizon, carrying the promise of a new day and warmth to burn off the morning mist.

Looking around the camp, she noticed Spottedstar padding towards the freshkill pile, indicating it had been the pawsteps of the clan leader that Owlfrost had heard. Walking away from the mouth of the den, she made to join her and see what was left from the last day's hunt. "Good morning Spottedstar," she greeted softly, still aware of her mostly sleeping clanmates.

Spottedstar dipped her head, offering the young female a friendly smile. "You're up rather early," she noted in a quiet tone. "Normally I'm the only wolf awake at this rather unsensible hour."

[ooc: looks as though it's done]

Nodding her head in return greeting, Owlfrost answered the not-really-asked question. "I've been lying awake awhile now. I think Stonewhisper caught me with his tail or something, wasn't able to fall back to sleep." In a den full of slumbering warriors, accidentally being woken by another wolf was hardly unusual, Owlfrost couldn't count the number of times it had happened since she'd moved out of the apprentice den so many moons ago. Usually she could fall straight back to sleep, but for some reason she'd been unable to this morning.

"And why do you find yourself so early to rise Spottedstar?" She asked, curios as to why the Clan leader, who already worked too hard, should find herself awake so much earlier than the rest of the clan. Surely Spottedstar needed her rest as much as any wolf, perhaps more on some occasions.

Skydust stretched as he blinked his eyes open. he hadn't really been asleep really just closing his eyes briefly. Sleeping would require him to let go of the real world and sink into oblivion. No he had been up with a nightmare and unable to go back to sleep for the rest of the night. Shaking out his fur he stood straight and looked around. It seemed the others were all waking so it was a good enough time to get up, hiding a yawn the male trotted out of the Warriors den, and into the sunlight.

Stonewhisper reluctantly opened his eyes and just barely caught a figure exiting the Warriors den. As the figure disappeared into the light of the sun, Stonewhisper found himself with eyes shut again, trying to shield them away from the morning light. For the most part he had claimed a fair sleep, but regardless he felt slow and groggy. This was how it always was at the begging of a new day. However, it (the day) would wait for no one and the soft sounds of chattering meant that many of the others had already came to life and were probably getting ready for the day’s work. With a few mumbles here and there, Stonewhisper rose from where he had spent the night sleeping and slowly made his way to the exit, just as Skydust had before him.

(Hm, it is a bit lame...but pretty decent for a first post.)

Just as the sound of pawsteps had roused Owlfrost from the den earlier, they once more caught her attention as first Skydust and then Stonewhisper slipped into the WindClan's main camp. Raising herself to her paws and shaking the last vestiges of sleep from her pelt, the pale coated she-wolf nodded a hello to her clanmates, before adding a half-yawned greeting. "Morning Skydust, Stonewhisper."

Turning one eye skyward, Owlfrost noted there was still time before the first patrols would be heading out to hunt or check borders. With that in mind, she settled back into a sitting position and began to smooth out her ruffled fur, carefully putting back to place the assortment of long white and gray hairs. Satisfied when it was done, she turned back to the two males, wondering what had them up so early. "Dawn patrol?" She inquired, trying to determine who all had been assigned the first shift of the morning.

Sky dust turned as the two wolves poked their still bleary eyes out of the den. He gave a smile and looked out over the land. "It could probably use a going over. do we know who was on the roister to scout today?" he asked curious, he did not mind going, he liked to look for different plants, and see if they had any potential helpfulness, but it would not be a good thing if a scouting part was already out.

Not that there were really enough for them to have two or three parties but a wolf never really knew right?

The pup stumbled out of her nest in the nursery. Though it was green-leaf it was quite lonely in the small den. She parted her maw in a silent yawn, then shook her fur ridding it of bits of moss that were left over from her nest. She blinked to clear the milky fog that clouded her vision, also left over from her sleep. Seeing the warriors moving around the camp, she couldn't help but dream of becoming warrior, it was her favorite past time since there weren't any other pups to play with. Rosepup gave a couple thoughtful licks to her chest, then padded out into the middle of camp, taking in all the sounds and scents of the early morning.

PostSubject: Re: WindClan Camp   WindClan Camp Icon_minitimeFri Jun 15, 2012 11:19 pm

After a sudden fall from a high mountain, LoyalSpirit woke up, laying on his side. His orbs opened widely. 'Where am I?' he thought with an unusual grunt while standing up. 'I think I fell down' he thought when he stood up. He felt a huge wave of pain go through the veins of his right front shoulder and paw, what make him yelp lowly. His tail slowly hid between his spottled hind legs.

Pain.
Horror.

His mind flashed horrible thoughts when the pain roamed through his body. He couldn't help; if he fell down, he would receive lots of pain again. But if he stood, the pain would be less. Limping was an idea just when he took his first step after thinking about it. 'I'd rather lay down on the other side, but, please, staying in the same place? Lame' he thought with a slight chuckle before limping towards a small puddle. His leaf-colored eyes ran through the liquid's reflection and smiled.

Finally some water after long-timed adventures.

His head lowered down without planning to. He took a lap just when he heard the birds sing the morning. His ears perked when he watched how 3 birds flew down the trees for a drink. His heart beated slowly but peacefully; he enjoyed to have a peaceful connection with animals. He smiled lightly, but avoided to make any brutal movements.

It was a difficult moment, though a very adorable one.

His orbs focused on the one who was in the center. Its feathers were colored with joyful colors; it had tints of a vivid blue with strikes of white and black, then some green tips for the end of each feather. 'Hello, beauties' he thought, believing that the birds would understand by reading his eyes. The birds titled their heads and tweeted with different tones before the flew around him.

What an inspiring moment, indeed.

But then something interrupted his thoughts. Some pad steps. His green eyes opened slightly when his head raised. The birds flew off when he tried to make a step. He limped to a brownish bush. His paws, full on pain, carefully placed his stomach in the fresh grass. His eyes narrowed, slightly focusing on a brown-tinted female with lots of interesting markings. He kept his tail raised, either with his ears.

A clan? Possibly.

Though his thoughts were focused just with being connected with the nature, he though it would be good to approach the female. But, he took a closer look at the den. Pups, and possibly a dominant wolf inside. His mind flashed opportunities, but he preferred to keep away for the moment, making sure nobody noticed him there. He backed off, but accidentally slipped down with a rock.

Just what he hated.

His ears flattened slightly, and his snout wanted to release a yelp, but it was just a silent breath. 'Stupid rock' he thought, his teeth raising but not event releasing a slight sound of an innocent breath. He barely looked at the rock and backed away, then he stood by a patch of red flowers. He laid down on his left side, and laid his head by the flower patch. He smelled them at the smallest distance and closed his eyes, still aware to the sounds of the nature.

Stonewhisper settled his small frame down into a sitting position just a few tail lengths away from Skydust, as his large ears tuned into Owlfrost as she gave a simple morning greeting. Usually, he would at least acknowledge the greeting, but today a sort of eagerness was starting to take over his entire body and mind, as the power of sleep began to fade away. With each minute that passed, things seemed to settle into perspective and became distinct and clear. Instead, of focusing on just one thing, Stonewhisper found it a lot easier now to focus on multiple things at once. For instance, while listening to Skydust and Owlfrost both inquire about the Dawn patrol, the light colored male also noticed Rosepup had apparently gotten up and was now in the middle of the camp.

As the image of her becoming a full fledge Warrior came into thought, a chuckle burst from Stonewhisper’s black lipped mouth, and softly slipped out into the open. Taking his eyes away from the pup, Stonewhisper began to chime back into the previous Dawn Patrol discussion. “I can’t say that I remember who exactly was on Dawn Patrol, but I’m willing to accompany whoever else is going…if needed.”

Though his eyes were closed, his ears listened to new steps. His tail tensioned a bit, but his eyes opened slowly. 'A Dawn Patrol? Great' he thought with a grunt before he tried to stand up. Pain roamed his shoulder again. He flattened his ears and slowly limped to the brownish bush. He stopped, standing. His face was visible. He sighed a bit and limped over to the male. He smiled a bit, though his real feeling was shame for entering the territory. He perked his ears, then flickered them. "Excuse me, are you guys a clan?" he asked, though he already knew it, but he asked to make sure it was clear.

"Excuse me, are you guys a clan?"

Rosepup's ears perked at the sound of a new voice, an unfamiliar one at that. She turned her head and looked at the newcommer with wide eyes. She wasn't sure whether she could trust the brute that had entered the camp, so she crawled back into the safety of the nursery. She kept her focus on the warriors to see how they welcomed the new wolf, mostly taking mental notes on how to handle future situations like this one. Well..he doesn't look too threatening, she thought to herself as she curled up against the den wall.

Skydust let his tail move across the ground as he waited for the other warriors to answer him. He thought back on his life here in the clan, it had been hard work, most of it leaving the scars on his body, but he had made it. He was a warrior now, maybe not his most wanted career, but at least he was no longer an apprentice, or the loner he used to be.

He was a proud Windclan warrior. Of course it was impossible to know that Stonewhisper was at this moment having about the same thoughts, but it was a common thought among the wolves here. Skydust doubted any wolf here would want to change.

“I can’t say that I remember who exactly was on Dawn Patrol, but I’m willing to accompany whoever else is going…if needed.”

Skydust swiveled his ears to the male, as Stonewhisper spoke, getting to his feet Skydust opened his muzzle to reply, when another, unknown voice came to him. His ears flew back and his eyes narrowed.

"Excuse me, are you guys a clan?"

Skydust walked calmly over to where Rosepup was, knowing that the pups where the future and stood in front of her. Maybe, what's it to you?" His voice was not threatening or rude merely curious, for Skydust was a non-aggressive wolf for the most part.

LoyalSpirit's ears perked. Though he didn't wanted to listen to many voices. He gazed at a new male. This one seemed to be a neutral warrior; what didn't pleased him. His head was lowering with the time, so he stood it up and looked at the male. 'I'd rather face a pup than this, rock flying to someone's head' he thought before twitching his nose. His snout opened, releasing a new group of words.

"Perfectly a group of wolves. I believe. Though you're all a clan."

His words were wise, though he decided to keep some of his useful words for himself, saved in his brain's chest of words. His thoughts slowly focused at the pups who were hidden inside the nursery. Around 2-3. He quickly changed his gaze to the male, awaiting an answer. 'I'm respectfully standing here, my shoulder suffering perfect pours of pain, great' he thought, his eyes always reflecting a sign of pain.

Stonewhisper did not even twitch a tail as he remained perfectly still in his sitting position. His soft gaze however, did seem to glue themselves right onto the new arrival as Skydust went about questioning his motive for being in the WindClan camp. For some that was a good tactic, and it was a well-respected one at that, but Stonewhisper preferred to analyze the situation first…before he jumped straight into a confrontation. Whether that confrontation be verbal, or physical. By doing this he was able to gain information, even if it was just a bit of information at a time. Information such as potential weaknesses, evident strength, and sometimes one could even decipher how an individual would react to certain words, or actions.

In this case, it was clear by the look in the stranger’s eyes that he was in some sort of pain. Sadly, though Stonewhisper was unable to pin-point the exact source. With a tinge of disappointment lingering in his mind, Stonewhisper flicked his tail against the ground, and opened his mouth to speak. “If you have no intent to join our clan, then I believe it would be best if you just left. For you are injured and if you display any manner of ill will toward anyone...within this clan..I fear, things would not fare well for you.” The words weren't harsh or threatening, but he had meant them to sound serious...even if the words came out soft and rather simple.

(No idea..where I went with this..XD)

LoyalSpirit listened to what this one had to say. His nose twitched, but carefully nodded wisely. 'Eeeeyup, this seems like a good clan' he thought, his eyes gazing around the pack. He looked at the male and simply asked. "Well, I have an intent to join, hope you don't mind showing me the way to your leader" he smiled. He simply waited for an answer before he sat down.

Movement from the mouth of the nursery caught the she-wolf’s attention briefly, her dark amber gaze flickering toward the entrance to see Rosepup tumble her way out. A soft smiling curling across her muzzle, she kept one eye trained on the wandering pup as she sniffed and explored. The poor young thing hadn’t many others to play with, the nursery had been painfully empty the last few seasons: Owlfrost made a mental note to make time to play with the future warrior later in the day before turning back to her fellow warriors.

She was about to answer that she was on the dawn patrol, but that she’d never heard who was to join her, when an unknown voice interrupted, carrying with it the scent of a stranger—to WindClan and any clan. He held no trace of any other Clan scent, which put Owlfrost immediately on her guard: a wolf without a Clan held loyalty to no one, and to no code, and was as much a potential danger as any badger, bear or wildcat. Shifting subtly, putting herself between this stranger and the elder’s den (for it seemed Skydust had taken charge over protected the nursery), Owlfrost listened as her clanmates replied to his questions.

It was not until he asked to speak to their leader that she entered herself into the discussion, tensing just slightly with the knowledge that WindClan was, regretfully, leaderless at the moment. This was, of course, nothing that a rogue wolf needed to know—no wolf needed to be given the idea that the clan was in a moment of uncertainty and weakness (for StarClan had yet to send a sign as to who the new Clan leader should be). Adopting her best diplomatic tone, Owlfrost intervened in the conversation.

“You’ll excuse us, I hope, for being cautious stranger, but as you can see, we take a great deal of care to protect our clan and our clanmates. You’ll not blame us, perhaps, if we don’t take an unnamed stranger to meet our clan leader the moment he stumbles into our camp. Would you mind terribly if we escorted you just outside camp, and perhaps take a look at that injury, before we proceed any further? And perhaps we can get some introductions?” All was said calmly, her tone the very epitome of kind amiability and reasonableness, though the truth was, Owlfrost was stalling for time and seeking a distraction. “I’m Owlfrost, for starters.” She put in, rising easily to her feet and attempting to guide the party outside the heart of camp, away from the dens and nursery. Quickly she added, “You know a bit about herbs, don’t you Skydust? Would you know of anything that could help his shoulder?” He seemed to be favoring it, though she didn’t know the reason.

The Nursery den lay quiet and forlorn in the camp, it's carefully protected entrance revealing dim emptiness inside of the comfortable niche. One might think that it's shortage of denizens would be disheartening, leading the few pups born there to be lonely. However, one such pup didn't mind the quiet, nor having so much space to herself. This pup slept peacefully in the swath of moss that made up her nest, curled into a small, poofy ball of downy gray. The thick fur was turning lighter and lighter as she got older, though with her youth, she still looked like a rain-laden cloud on stubbly legs.

Muted noises from the camp outside drifted through the gap leading into her home, causing her ears to twitch. Her jaw opened in a huge yawn, revealing little needle-sharp teeth and a pink tongue. As a small sprig of moss tickled at her black nose, she gave a brief sneeze and shook her head, blinking open misty blue eyes. The small pup scrambled to her paws, which her body had yet to catch up with, and stretched her hindlegs by kicking them out behind her. A tiny bit of dirt flung backwards from her pads, which immediately caught her attention. With a squeal of delight, she began to kick at the dirt some more, until she had made a shallow hole with a small pile beside it.

Quickly tiring of her game, she tried to make her eyes focus as she looked around the den. She was still young, and couldn't see very far, but eventually she knew that her denmate was not with her. The sounds continued to coax her out of her shelter, however, gazing at the tunnel that led out of the nursery. She tottered out into the open camp on unsteady legs, blinking at the sight that stretched out before her. The fluffy gray bundle lowered her head until her nose bumped the ground, snuffling around as she moved forward uncertainly.

Skydust listened to Owlfrost, she was being very reasonable, not unlike the other wolves here, he agreed silently that bringing up that we had no leader was not a good idea. When she asked that he find a herb for the other males shoulder he dipped his head in agreement and went out to see what he could find.

The male snuffed around until he found what he had been looking for. The soft long leaves of the sage plant stood out on the empty plan. Sage was known as an antiinflammatory, antioxidant, and antifungal, it would reduces inflammation and swelling, and act as a salve for cuts and burns, and would kill any bacteria that may have gotten into the wound. After digging up a small portion of the root and a few of the leaves, the male, turned to look for Wild Quinine plant that grew near the fallen tree. This plant would help to give the wolf a small amount of fatigue relief, give him some energy. Avoiding the plant and going straight towards the root, he dug carefully before picking up his bundle and heading back to the den.

Orchidpup lifted her head to look around the camp again, for the first time noticing the handful of wolves. They were all far bigger than her, and there were more than she was used to in the Nursery. Her plumy tail wagging behind her, she made her way across the empty clearing to the nearest wolf. Unfortunately, such wolf was leaving the camp at the request for herbs.

She blinked and tilted her head, while the adults were busy with the newcomer, she followed after Skydust. The going was slow for her short legs, and she had to keep her nose to the ground to follow him after he'd vanished from sight by a hill. Once she breasted the slope, she lifted her head and sat down, tired after walking so far. From her vantage point, she could spot Skydust again, digging at the base of a plant.

Her ears perked up in excitement. I can help! She dashed over to the nearest plant, a long stalk of a common weed, and pushed her little paws into the dirt furiously. After scrabbling about for a few moments, she was able to rip the weed from the ground in her jaws, holding the stems carefully as her tail moved from side to side happily. She waited for Skydust to start heading back, barely able to keep her paws still with the urge to run and show him how much she 'helped'.

Rosepup watched as both Skydust and Orchidpup left the nursery and out of camp. She was curious what was exactly out there, besides what she had heard from the elders tales. It all seemed so vicious, but in reality it looked like trees to the young pup. She shook the thought away remembering that it was forbidden for her to step foot outside the camp. She sighed and trotted to Stonestar who was still conversing with the newcommer. She sat down in between his forepaws and stared upward at the brutes, not saying a word.

As Skydst neared the camp, his mouth full of herbs for the male, he noticed Orchidpaw. The smaller wolf seemed excited, at his feet lay a small pile of roots, that looked to be freshly dug up. The plant and root itself had no use, it was merely a weed, but the younger wolf looked so proud, it was hard to say that these items would do no good.

Setting down his bundle of plant roots and phylum's the male smiled, "Now where in the world did you get those? They are just what i was looking for! Thank you Orchidpaw." Not one to put down a wolf that did not know better, Skydust added the weeds to his bundle and walked to his den. He gently separated the weeds from the herbs and wrapped the useless plants in a leaf to store them away. Winking at the small wolf as he came back out he walked to the unknown, and injured male. "Here take this Sage and grind it up into a paste, when that is finished rub it all over the injury until it is a think paste. Now with the Wild Quinine, you will want to eat this with water, it should help with any fatigue, but it does tend to dry a wolf out, so be sure to drink plenty of water. Our leader will get back to you when he can." As Skydust spoke about each plant he separated them and pointed to them with his noes, demonstrating how to grind the Sage up with his teeth.

Nodding his head to the wolf he walked slowly to StoneStar, though not yet given his lives, the wolf was leader. and it was that reason that he sought the males companionship now. Coming to sit by the other male, Skydust was reminded of how tiny he really was, giving an internal sigh he shrugged and looked at the male, "We should leave sometime today, for the Moonstone, the longer we wait to get your lives, the more risk we put the pack and you in." He said his eyes serious for one of the few times in his life.

Stonestar, only listened as he watched Skydust leave to fetch the stranger some herbs for his injuries. Owlfrost, was doing a fine job as a warrior and so Stonestar felt no need to intervene or really say anything further. Silently, he sat his tail twitching in thought as he pondered his new position. He was now the WindClan’s leader, and by right it was his ability to accept new wolves into the clan. However, he had not received his lives yet, and knew his first order of business needed to be going to the Moonstone. It was a bit of a long journey, but it was one that could not be ignored. And now was as good a time as any. Especially, because while he was away the injured stranger would need to rest in order for his injuries to heal, and even if he caused problems Owlfrost would be here to protect the pups.

As if the thought itself had summoned her, Stonestar looked down in between his forepaws and saw a russet colored pup. With a soft smile forming on his blackened lips, Stonestar touched his nose to the top of Rosepup’s head. “Don’t you think you are bit too old to be doing that now Rosepup?” He said gently, as he removed his nose from the young females head. “Hm, you and Orchidpup should be about six moons old now.” Stonestar, added on though this time the words said out loud were actually thoughts that had escaped his head.

"We should leave sometime today, for the Moonstone, the longer we wait to get your lives, the more risk we put the pack and you in."

He was about to say something else, but before he could utter even a single word Skydust the medicine wolf for WindClan came to sit beside him. The medicine cat was small, smaller than most WindClan wolves, but the male did a great job at treating the injured or sick. And he was generally a wolf, one liked to keep company with. With an agreeing expression now replacing his previous smile, he had displayed while he talked with Rosepup, Stonestar rose effortlessly from his sitting position without bumping Rosepup in the process.

“You are quite right, my friend. Such matters cannot be put off any longer, and I’m ready to set off whenever you are. When I return, we shall have your's and Orchidpups apprentice ceremony, and you two shall be placed with a mentor. ” Stonestar added on, the bit he had wanted to say before Skydust made an appearance before him. With once last look to Rosepup, Stonestar cast his gaze toward Skydust and gave the medicine wolf a nod...that showed he was ready to set of now.
