Old ShadowClan Camp

A camp is a site where a Clan makes its permanent home. It is where the wolves sleep, meet, bring fresh-kill,get treated for injuries or illness, receive orders, and make reports to the Clan leader or deputy. Some wolves, such as queens, kits and elders stay in the camp, while the warriors, deputy and leader patrol the territory and hunt. Each Clan has one camp.

ShadowClan camp is surrounded by prickly brambles and bushes and hidden in a well-concealed hollow. There are constant patrols sent out and the camp and borders are fiercely guarded. There is a small, always guarded path leading to and into the camp. The leader's den is located underneath a large oak tree. You must gain entrance and not enter the den without permission. Near the edge of the clearing of camp there is a large, smooth boulder used for meetings and announcements. Right next to that boulder, there is a smaller rock. Underneath this rock is a cave where the Medicine Wolf resides. Sick and injured Clan members visit and get aid there. The warrior's den is located underneath bramble bushes and is lined with moss and pine needles. There is also another thorn bush. This is the nursery where new born pups and their mothers live until the pups have grown.

Despite the fact that RiverClan and ShadowClan had combined, both camps are still used frequently by each Clan.

The male leader paced back and forth in the camp, deep in thought. It was early in the morning and the sun hadn't even rose yet. His pelt blended into the darkness, though his golden eyes shone in the night. None of his subjects were up yet, this is good. He still had time to think before having to order patrols and take on the new day. Somewhere in the distance a crow cawed and the male quickly looked in the direction of the sound. Seeing there was no threat, he looked away and went back to pacing.

Nightfeather picked her head up and yawned. It's still early.. too early. she thought as she looked around her. At least the others were still asleep. Except..? She listened carefully to the sound of someone moving in the camp. Invaders? No.. only one. A spy? Hmm.. Nothing seemed unusual other than the sound of pacing. Figuring that she won't be getting any more sleep today, she rose and cautiously stepped out of the den to take a quick look around. Ah.. just Shadestar. she thought as she finally caught sight of him pacing around the camp. Relieved, she sat down to watch him, wondering exactly why he was pacing.

Shadestar sensed a being nearby. He stopped pacing and looked up from the ground and released himself from his thoughts. A dark figure stood near the Warriors den and his eyes narrowed. The wolf appeared to have just woken up; the remnants of sleep still on her facade. He said nothing for a moment and simply looked at her, wondering angrily how long she had been there. Could she not simply get a good nights sleep, and then decided to watch him like an animal in a zoo for entertainment? Still, he held his tongue, yet only to prevent himself from waking up the others. Looking away from the female, Shadestar began pacing again. His thoughts had escaped him and he cursed the female for distracting him. Now it seemed he was only doing this for the exercise. The male longed to be a warrior again- to have the freedom to run around whenever he wished. Now he actually had responsibilities, and he couldn't just leave his Clan behind. He felt a bond with them that he couldn't with any other wolf. If there were deaths, they were now his fault and no one else's. He stopped walking to and fro and decided to wait until dawn. Then more wolves would be up and he could send out patrols and more could guard the camp. Perhaps then he could get away and spend some time on his own.

Nightfeather yawned again, not paying much attention to anything. By the time she realized the male was looking at her, he had already started to look away and resume his pacing. She watched him for a moment longer, wondering if she'd managed to annoy him. Even if she did, she wasn't exactly concerned. It's not like his moodiness was her problem. The female, losing interest in Shadestar, began to look around the camp, hoping to find something interesting. Finding nothing, she sighed and laid down, hoping something would happen soon.

Darkfeather sighed and laid on her back, staring blankly up at the fluffy white clouds. They stood out against the bright blue sky, like beacons attracting the she-wolves sight. She rolled over onto her stomach and stood up, looking around the camp she could see Nightfeather and Shadestar, maybe she could go hunting. She padded over to Nightfeather on soft paws, "I'm going hunting, wanna come with me?" She asked the canid. As she waited for a response Darkfeather looked around the camp, she wondered why it seemed so empty but didn't sit on it long, getting distracted by the clouds again.

Having been lost in her thoughts, Nightfeather didn't notice the sound of another wolf coming toward her. She whipped her head around to look at Darkfeather in surprise, the other wolf's words not quite registering in her mind. "Eh? Oh. Sure. Got a place in mind?" She replied after a moment, finally understanding what the other wolf had said. She wasn't too excited about going hunting, but it was better than laying around doing nothing all day.

Dakrfeather thought about where to hunt, she hadn't considered this. After thinking it through she decided the Burnt Sycamore. "How bout the Burnt Sycamore?" she said voicing her thoughts. The wind was brushing her ebony pelt gently, sending ripples through it's smooth surface making it look much like the ocean. Darkfeather looked up, she saw a dark bird fly by and a feather detach itself from the raven's entangle wing. The dark feather fluttered down and reminded the canid how she had gotten her name, sure because she had a dark pelt but the feather part came from a "sign" as he mother had called it. The day before she became a true warrior he woke up with a black bird feather lodged in her fur. Hence where she got the name Darkfeather.

"Burnt Sycamore works. Anything you want in particular or just whatever we can find?" The female asked as she stood up. As she saw the raven feather drift down, she couldn't help but be amused. Heh, birds of a feather flock together, I guess, she thought as she started walking toward the exit. Even though the wolf was never very superstitious, she still wondered if that feather meant something. After all, it was hard to ignore a raven's feather falling from the sky while two wolves, both with 'feather' in their names, were planning a hunting trip. Eh, probably just coincidence. Or the clan is going to be taken over by feathers, she decided. "Come on then. On a nice day like this we'll be sure to find something. Like.. feathers," she called back to the other wolf.

Darkfeather nodded and led the way to the burn Sycamore, her paws crunching heavily over leaves she smiled a bit thinking about hunting. She looked back at Nightfeather and called to her "i'll race you there" and jolted faster through the forest.

-To the Burnt Sycamore-

Skypup layed down against the inside of the thorn bush, bored to death with no other pups to entertain him. His white and gray pelt was shaded by the branches and a few thorns poked and probed at him. They pushed through his medium length fur and scratched his skin underneath. Sky's back twitched at the feeling but didn't move to get more comfortable, what was the point to it? Anywhere he moved he was only get the same result. Sometimes he wondered why he even stayed in the den. Oh, right. He didn't like attention drawn to him unless he wanted it to be. Sky let out a loud grunt and plopped his chin on the ground in front of him between his paws.

The male leader arrived back to his camp. It was a little more active, but not by much. He must not have been gone long.... or the numbers were dropping. Shadestar's eyes rested on a pup hiding in the shadow of the thorns of the pup den. He seemed bored or at least slightly uncomfortable because of the thorns. Nevertheless, the leader was grumpy and didn't think one conversation with a pup would help him, especially since the male pup seemed as irritable as him today. The leader sighed and sat down, once again lost in thought, even though he wasn't sure what for.

For a couple moments he sat there. As if making up his mind, the ShadowClan leader turned tail and walked out of the camp for the second time that day, walking towards the tall burnt tree known as the Burnt Sycamore.

The found pup's ears flicked at the sound of someone leaving camp. He turned just in time to see Shadestar's tail disappear through the entrance. With nothing more to do, Skypup got up and padded after his leader, thinking nothing of the consequences.

-To the Burnt Sycamore-

The young pup padded across the clearing, having just listened to the elders tell an exciting story about the old clans the pup had found himself hungry. And so he set out to quail his growling stomach, thanking the elders the pup soon found himself making his way toward the fresh kill pile in search of a nice snack.

The young pup was still clumsy due to his large paws he had yet to fully grow into, but even with the occasional fall the pup carried himself with an air of confidence and friendliness that would cause an adult to look upon him in loving amusement. Reaching the pile of prey Apachpup stuck his nose into the pile as he searched for the rabbit he smelled, upon finding the pup withdraw the piece of prey before carefully re-stacking the pile. It wouldn't do to dirty the rest of the prey and make the came look untidy.

Once done the male retrieve the rabbit and set about hauling it over to a shady spot near the Nursery.

Skypup walked in through the entrance before Darkfeather. Though he was caught outside the camp, he held himself high. It wasn't good to let others think you had weaknesses. The sky was turning grayer and he could sense the oncoming storm. Skypup let out a soft growl at StarClan before he made his way into the Nursery. Once there, he laid down in the same spot from earlier, once again ignoring the thorns in his back.

Apache had been about to take a bite out of the rabbit when Skypup stormed by, giving his meal a confused look the pup stood. Ceasing the rabbit by the scruff he began to drag it into the nursery, determined to keep a hold of the food the pup did not pulling the prey along even when it caught on thorns.

let out a small snarl of determination Apachepup pulled harder in his attempt to free the rabbit, ignoring the thorns that pricked his muzzle as he did so. With a snap of indignation the throns released the rabbit sending both the prey and the pup tumbling backwards.

Skypup rolled his eyes at Apachepup and the rabbit, but did have to admit. The pup did look like he was enjoying himself trying to get the rabbit inside the den.

His ears perked up slightly and he jumped up, his skin getting scratched by the thorns. He gave Darkfeather a real smile, "Would you?!?"

Looking peering up at the face that had taken up the space of the entrance Apachepup smiled, after his tumble the rabbit had ended up resting on top of him. And he had to admit that the sight had to be pretty funny, chuckling the pup wriggled his way out from underneath the rabbit. "I would love to!" he yipped, his insatiable thirst for knowledge causing him to forget his hunger.

Stumbling to his feet the pup joined Skypup, as he jumped up and down excitedly.

Skypup bounded after the older wolf into her den. It smelt of many different herbs and mushed up combinations. He smiled softly as he sat down in front of Darkfeather and waited for her to start talking.

Apachepup eagerly followed his other clanmates, his amber eyes wide with awe as he entered the medicine den. The air was permeated with so many scents, sweet, bitter, all mixed together in a head dizzying concoction that burned the nose. Eyes full of wonder the young pup took in every aspect of the den.

Skypup nodded, "But what if the wolf is too injured to chew it?" he asked. He looked up at Darkfeather a moment before crouching down and sniffing the herb, Or what happens if the wolf is in too much pain? Is there a stronger root?"

Apache cocked his head, studying the root closely as he try to commit the image to memory. He nodded when Skypup spoke, "Perhaps it would work to rub the herb on the injury," he offered, preferring to think things through and come to a conclusion himself rather then wait for Darkfeather to tell him. if he was wrong she'd let him know," If that doesn't work you could chew the rook to turn it to pulp, and help him swallow it?" his words where carefully measured as he thought this through, it made sense to help the wolf swallow it if he could not do it on his own. The problem was he had no idea how one would go about doing it.

Cocking his head the pup looked up at the older she-wolf, "You can help him swallow it can't you." he asked.
