Old ShadowClan Camp

A camp is a site where a Clan makes its permanent home. It is where the wolves sleep, meet, bring fresh-kill,get treated for injuries or illness, receive orders, and make reports to the Clan leader or deputy. Some wolves, such as queens, kits and elders stay in the camp, while the warriors, deputy and leader patrol the territory and hunt. Each Clan has one camp.

ShadowClan camp is surrounded by prickly brambles and bushes and hidden in a well-concealed hollow. There are constant patrols sent out and the camp and borders are fiercely guarded. There is a small, always guarded path leading to and into the camp. The leader's den is located underneath a large oak tree. You must gain entrance and not enter the den without permission. Near the edge of the clearing of camp there is a large, smooth boulder used for meetings and announcements. Right next to that boulder, there is a smaller rock. Underneath this rock is a cave where the Medicine Wolf resides. Sick and injured Clan members visit and get aid there. The warrior's den is located underneath bramble bushes and is lined with moss and pine needles. There is also another thorn bush. This is the nursery where new born pups and their mothers live until the pups have grown.

Despite the fact that RiverClan and ShadowClan had combined, both camps are still used frequently by each Clan.

Apachewind let out a rumbling growl, low enough that only the females could hear the emotion behind the growl was light and playful and it showed not only through his body language but his eyes as well. "I would be very pleased to take you up on that offer, my dear." He rumbled, flicking her with his tail. He nodded toward Nightfeather when she politely gestured that she did not wish to join him, he understood she was never the type to hang around crowds. She felt far more comfortable around a single wolf then many, and so he did not pressure her making a metal note to talk to her later instead.

Lightningflash smiled at the light and playful tone in his growl. "Perfect. Meet me tomorrow evening at the Burnt Sycamore?" she asked softly, a strange sweetness in her tone. For once this wasn't a faked sweetness. Something about how this young male stood, spoke, reacted... It all made her different. Made her kinder, sweeter, and a bit more playful. She flicked her tail at him after he flicked his at her and smiled, curling her tail back toward her paws.

He gave her a dark smile, and knowing smile, as if he knew something she did not before replying. "I will be, my dear." When she flicked him back Apache nudged her playfully with his nose, before straightening, they could not tussle because they were gathered for a meeting and so he took the play no farther then his playful nudge.

Lightningflash nodded then saw his dark, knowing smile. Her head tilted only the slightest bit in curiosity before he nudged her. She smiled and touched her nose to his shoulder. "I'll hold you to that dear Apachewind." She whispred gently before straightening back, her eyes a playful darkness and her smile equally dark. She knew the male would not take their play any further since the meeting was going on. /That dark knowing smile... I wonder what he's up to./ she thought, looking at him for one more moment before turning to hear Shadestar's announcements.

The pup lifted her head feeling someones gaze on her, her midnight blue eyes stared straight back at Lightdawn before standing and padding over towards the rock, she sat down and watched shadestar. he was better and that was all that mattered to her! her eyes glittered with interest. perhaps this would be her apprentice ceremony? she couldnt bear the thought of NOT becoming a medicine wolf apprentice! she felt in her heart that she HAD to be one. her black nose wrinkled a little, she still had the bag she had made around her neck.

Noticing a young she-wolf come out of her den,he padded over. Feeling a rush of blood bust through his legs as he ran through camp. He sat next to her and said "hi,we haven't met yet have we." He sneaked a smile on his face. Trying to leave an impression. "I'm bluepup." He then noticed he was the same size as the she-wolf.

Shadestar looked around below him as his Clan members heard his call and approached the rock. Impatiently, he couldn't especially sit still as he waited. Finally, most of the Clan had gathered beneath the rock. The male leader then opened his jaws to speak. "Before we all take a rest after the gathering, I have a few announcements to make." Looking down at the wolves he said, "Silentpup, Mistypup, Ravenpup, Nightfeather, Lightdawn and Lightningflash please step forward." Instead of going one at a time, he decided to go for having a group of wolves step towards the rock. His eyes and face hid all emotion and did not allow the group to know exactly what was occurring.

Silentpup obeyed and walked forward. He was buzzing with excitment wondering what was going on. Maybe he was about to be given his apprentice name, Silentpaw. He was nearly 6 moons! His deep purple eyes glinted and shined with enthuasiasm. He sat and waited for the rest of the wolves to come forward as well.

Lightningflash's ear twitched when Shadesta called six wolves, one of them herself, to step forward. She glanced at Apachewind, curiosity in hr bright blue eyes, then turned and padded forward, her steps gentle and at an easy pace. The midnight-furred female sat below the rock, looking at Shadestar with a steady, curious gaze. She thought for a moment as the ohers stepped up. /Three pups and three adults. What could Shade want with-/ then she had it. She smiled darkly, plased with what she knew already. /The pups will be named apprentices. And us three adults will be mentoring them./ She cast a glance at the pups. Silentpup, Mistypup, and Ravenpup. /I'll bet you anything Ravenpup will be a medecine wolf apprentice. That leaves either Silentpup or Mistypup to be my apprentice./ she thought, not sure which would be hers or which she would rather have.

Ravenpup stepped forward excitedly, her midnight blue eyes glinted with excitement, her black whisp of a tail wagging like there was no tomorrow will i be getting made an apprentice today? the small black fae wondered, her ears twitched backwards a little bit what if shadestar makes me a warrior apprentice!? the thought made her tail stop wagging and her eyes glint with seriousness. she wanted to be a medicine apprentice oh so so much! her paws shifted around betraying her anxiousness. she was the kindest wolf in shadowclan, a bit of an oddball in the dark clan of warriors. her tongue hang out of her mouth a little panting slightly in the cold air clouds of warm air billowed from her mouth.

Apachewind returned her smile, he had no time to reply though as Shadestar began the meeting by calling his old mentor, Lightdawn, and Lightingflash. Lightningflash stepped forward, when she shot a look back at him he smiled encouragingly as he was left sitting beside Skyfeather. naturally the male went over the possabilities as to why these wolves had been called forward, the only logical one was that they were about to be named mentor and apprentice. Pride welled in his heart not only for Lightningflash but his only mentor, this joy and pride although was tinged with sadness he would longer be spending so much time with Nightfeather training. She had a new apprentice to look after and teach while he was a warrior, he would greatly miss their training seasons, Nightfeather was a thoughtful wolf and his questions were always patiently answered in ways that were deep yet simple to understand which ever pup was given her as their mentor would not find one better.

He was also sad to see Lightningflash become one as well, for she would be busy with her young pupil as well...he was also deep down concerned for the pup. The dark she-wolf was not the easiest going wolf, indeed her mood and humor bordered on dark, although she may not know it he had seen how she reacted with others. She was colder toward her other clan-mates then she was toward him, a matter that completely baffled him silently he preyed that what ever pup she was paired with would receive the gentler side of her.

Skyfeather smiled softly as the warriors and pup were called up by Shadestar. It was always a happy time when pups became apprentices, both for the individuals and the Clan. She nudged Apachewind softly with her shoulder and gave him a small smile before turning back to the ceremony but her thoughts were interrupted about how simple her life would have been if she'd fallen in love with her friend and not Tallfeather. Maybe it would have been easier but she knew she'd never see the male in any other light than a friend. Sky let out a sigh. Why couldn't her life be simpler?

Shadestar turned to look at the small pup Silentpup first, as he was the first to step forward. He paused for a moment, not speaking, and just looking down at the pup. "From this moment, until he has earned his warrior name, this apprentice shall be known as Silentpaw. Nightfeather, you will be mentor to this apprentice. You are a true and trusted warrior, and I hope you will pass this knowledge to your new apprentice. You have been a wise mentor to your previous apprentice, Apachewind, so I am sure you will do as well for this pup." He fell silent for a moment, waiting for the new pup-apprentice pair to touch noses so he could continue with the ceremony for the others.

Nodding a congrats to silentpup. No wait silentpaw. He grinned,he then waited for the rest of the wolves to be apprentices. He sat as still as possible. Soaking up the sun,in the mid-day sun.

Lightningflash watched as Shadestar addressed Silentpup first, his name now becoming Silentpaw. She flicked her ears absently when Nightfeather was called to be his mentor. /That leaves Mistypup who, I bet, will be my apprentice./ she thought, glancing at Silentpaw and giving him a nod of congrats for becoming an apprentice. She payed little attention to Nightfeather as she turned her gaze back to Shadestar, waiting to see who he would call next.

Silentpaw was speechless. One of his pup dreams have came true and he was now an apprentice. He swiftly trotted up to Nightfeather and touched noses with her.
"I'll try my best." He whispered.

Hearing the apprentices determination he grinned. He then looked at the last pup. Mistypup,now going to be mistypaw. He then looked up at the last warrior and whispered "good luck with the furball". He chuckeld. He then looked at where he sat,but instead st under a nearby tree. He then laid down his head. His eyes droopy with sleep.

Shadestar watched the proceedings with approval, as Silentpaw touched noses with his new mentor. Turning his attention back to the four wolves who still stood in front of him: Lightningflash, Ravenpup, Mistypup, and Lightdawn. His golden gaze looked at his sister for a moment before turning to Mistypup with a slight smile. He recalled the three pups mischief together, they seemed to have matured from then. The leader wondered if they would still be able to even get up into that tree they used to hide in... But, Shadestar really was never one for reminiscing and preferred to look forward to the future.

"From this moment, until he has earned her warrior name, this apprentice shall be known as Mistypaw." He began, using the old language he had used for promoting the first apprentice. Age old language, and never-changing traditions were important. "Lightningflash, you will be mentor to this apprentice. You are a true and trusted warrior, and I hope you will pass this knowledge to your new apprentice. It will be your first apprentice, so I trust that you will do well in teaching her." Once again he paused, waiting for the nose-touching ceremony before continuing.

Noticing another pup becoming an apprentice,he looked up and nodded his head in respect. He then got up and stretched. He yawned and padded up over to the crowds of wolves.

Lightningflash was seated, perfectly still and respectful, as Shadestar turned to the four remaining wolves. She listened as her leader's voice rang clearly into her ears. Mistypup now being Mistypaw. Lightning blinked at Shadestar when he spoke that she would be the apprentice's mentor. For a moment, her eyes sparkled with happiness, pride and even a touch of relief. She was proud to have her own apprentice, happy Shadestar saw her true and trustworthiness, a thing many wolves may not know she is. But she was relieved that Ravenpup was not her apprentice. Once Shade finished speaking, she stood and took a few steps toward her new apprentice. She leaned forward to touch noses and whispered. "I hope you are not as much trouble as I was." Her voice, though quiet, was slightly gentle and humorous, as if she recalled her own aprenticeship and how she used to make it tough on her mentor all the time. In the back of her head, Lightning was thinking of how to get into the little wolf's head to steer her in the ways of a Shadowclan warrior; strong, quick, determined. She would try to help her apprentice overcome weaknesses and control her strengths.

The female wolf had a look of surprise on her face when she was called up along with the others. Shadestar had not informed her of anything, what was going on? She remained standing instead of seated this time, and listened to Shadestar, catching his gaze a few times. Apprentices? What? Lightdawn then realized- she must be mentoring an apprentice? She hadn't in such a long time, it seemed kind of unbelievable that she would be now. Lightdawn wondered which apprentice was hers. Normally she would rather Shadestar speak to her of it first, but perhaps it had been a long day and he just wanted to get it over with. Silentpaw was appointed to Nightfeather, and then Mistypaw to Lightningflash. So, Ravenpup, the wolf who wished to walk the path of a medicine wolf, would be hers? A look of uncertainty passed across Lightdawn's face for a moment before disappearing.

Notcing the last wolf,he noticed a blink of uncertainty in her eyes. He raised his eyebrow (if wolves do have one or two as it is two eyes). He then looked at the young wolf. Looking at her body shape,he could tell she was quite weak. He shrugged. Do not judge a wolf by their looks. Just as scourage was judged. He snarled at the though. He wanted to gring his teetth on his bones. He then shot back to reality,as he heard murmurs across the crowd. He shrugged and sat up admiring the sunshine. And looked into the shade. His big amber eyes tuning to darkness.......

Ravenpaw glanced over at mistypaw and silentpaw and beamed. happy for her friends she didnt notice that she was the last pup left to be named. she frowned and glanced over at lightdawn, her eyes filled with a deep horror. Shadestar was going to name her a warrior apprentice. she didnt want to be a warrior! her paws were set on the path of a medicine wolf! she glanced up at shadestar with misery in her midnight blue eyes.
